James Mangold‘s The Wolverine could have been a bonafide hit had it not been for some unfortunate scheduling. By the time the film made its debut audiences were pretty much superheroed out. But the film still managed to be a relative hit, even giving Fox enough confidence to explore a sequel and give Mangold another opportunity to direct. The Wolverine is due out on Blu-ray/DVD early next month, so talks of the unconfirmed sequel are still in the works. But Hugh Jackman isn’t one to shy away from talking about the sequel, even if he already feels tired of playing the hero seven times already. In fact some of the ideas being tossed around are “really cool.” Hit the jump to find out more.

| $5.99 MP3 Album Deal: Red Hot Chili Peppers ‘Mother’s Milk’ |

Mother’s Milk, the record which propelled the funky punky ensemble Red Hot Chili Peppers into the mainstream, yet stayed true to its roots, is now available in MP3 format from Amazon right now for only $5.99. If you’d like a physical copy of Mother’s Milk, the CD is currently is $10.73 and is an “AutoRip” selection, which means if you purchase the CD, you’ll ALSO get the MP3 download for FREE. This album is now, almost 25 years after its original release in 1989, a dynamic sonic belt notch in the band’s oeuvre and is the first to sport the now-classic lineup of leadman Anthony Kiedis, bassman Flea, drummer Chad Smith, and the ex-guitarist John Frusciante. From the opening notes of “Good Time Boys,” the group still has that sort of looseness which was funkified no doubt, but had a deer in the headlights lack of musical discipline that permeated on their earlier albums (albums with original guitarist Hillel Slovak, who had recently passed away around the original release of Mother’s Milk and thusly the record is pretty much dedicated to him body and soul). That said, Mother’s Milk still sports a much better arranged tightness from the band that only adds pounds of muscle to the tunes, which range from quasi hip hop in the ode to the famous NBA great “Magic Johnson,” the horns-a-plenty “Subway to Venus,” the genitals in the cookie jar sex up of “Sexy Mexican Maid,” and the wonderful “Johnny, Kick A Hole in the Sky.” If that ain’t enough, they even do a nicely browned on both sides version of Hendrix’s “Fire” as well as a cover of Stevie Wonder’s “Higher Ground,” which brought upon their first taste of mainstream popularity (in part thanks to the song’s video), along with the album’s other single, “Knock Me Down.” The band’s last record before people like Rick Rubin and the folks at Warner Brothers Records put the band into the superstar stratosphere, Mother’s Milk is almost like the demo or the pilot, of what was to come. Browse over 20 albums on sale this month for only $1-$5.99 each, as well as the 100 albums on sale this month for only $5 each.

Paramount Pictures has released the first trailer for Darren Aronofsky‘s Noah. The film is based on the biblical story of Noah, who built a giant ark and saved two of every animal and his family, while the rest of the world was purged by the Great Flood. The difference is that Noah is seen more as a builder in the Bible and Aronofsky is depicting the Biblical figure as a warrior. While this is the first time that the general public has seen footage, the trailer features footage that was presented at various religious conferences throughout the country. There has been some conflict with Aronofsky and Paramount about the final edit of the film though. Test screenings have not been favorable, but those who have seen the film at religious conferences would probably tell you differently. Paramount has invested a fair amount of cash into Noah, which could turn out to be an epic hit or an epic failure depending on who gets the final cut. Hit the jump to see the trailer.
