Remember back in February when rapper Ice-T said he was recording narration for a Dungeons & Dragons audiobook and called it “crazy, deep, deep, deep nerd shit”?
Well, that crazy deep nerd shit has been released and is now available through Audible for FREE for a limited time!
The book Ice was referring to is R. A. Salvatore‘sThe Legend of Drizzt: The Collected Stories. Felicia Day, Dan Harmon, Greg Grunberg, Tom Felton, Danny Pudi, Sean Astin, Melissa Rauch, Ice-T, Wil Wheaton, Al Yankovic, Michael Chiklis, and David Duchovny each narrate one of the 12 tales included in this audiobook.
Ice’s selection is Comrades at Odds, which, after Ice described the story by saying things like “This motherfucker got a sword that talks to him and shit” and that “every word you’re saying is pretty much made up,” I just have to hear it.
In honor of D&D‘s 40th anniversary, the audiobook will be free for 40 days – starting August 12, 2014 12:01am ET through September 20, 2014 11:59PM ET. Click HERE to get the FREE audiobook through Amazon (or go directly to Audible). You can select individual stories or get the entire collection.
Salvatore posted to this morning about the new collection to his Facebook page, where he mentions Ice-T’s previous comments about narrating one of the stories.
“I’ve been excited to announce this for months, since I first found out about it, quite by accident, when a friend sent me Ice-T’s hilarious rant about narrating a D&D story. As I read his blog, I said, “Hey, that’s my story!” And yes it was…Audible.com has just released “The Legend of Drizzt: The Collected Stories.”
Check out the videos here below of the celebrities talking about doing their narrations – including Ice-T, who tones it down for the official video.
