It’s never a dull moment during the production of any Marvel film. And as we have seen, characters can be killed but resurrected, or they can fake their deaths, or they can just disappear into the winds, but if there is one Marvel character that hasn’t gotten a fair shake it would probably be Jeremy Renner‘s Hawkeye. Renner was a last minute addition to Thor, he was basically a villain for almost three-quarters of The Avengers, and he didn’t get to appear alongside his fellow assassin, Black Widow, in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. But the actor may have dropped a huge spoiler about Hawkeye, and the future of his character in the MCU.
Avengers: Age Of Ultron director Joss Whedon said that Hawkeye won’t be moping around as a hypnotized baddie in the second film, which is a good thing. Whedon then said he would like to kill someone in the film, and all eyes went on Hawkeye, which would make sense, had it not been for this latest rumor: Hawkeye could be in Captain America 3. Hit the jump to learn more.
In an interview with Collider, Renner talked about clearing his schedule for some upcoming Marvel films.
“There are rumblings of Captain America 3. I don’t know what’s going to happen there. I’ve got to find the time, man (laughs). I’m trying to stay home and I can’t.”
Well he isn’t confirming or denying. But of all the Avengers, Hawkeye hasn’t had a major role in any of Marvel’s solo films. Nick Fury has nearly been in all of them, Black Widow has had two. Even Maria Hill got a small gig on Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and that was bigger than Hawkeye climbing into box and pointing an arrow at Thor. So it would only make sense that Hawkeye get a substantial role in Captain America 3.
So far Renner has Mission: Impossible 5 and Bourne 5 on his schedule, which would mean he would need to get started on those soon as Cap 3 is scheduled for a 2015 shoot. The film is scheduled for a May 6, 2016 release.
