Here’s A Stormtrooper and The Batmobile In Zack Snyder’s Latest ‘Star Wars’ Mash-Up

Stormtrooper with the Gotham City Police

First there were those low-quality images of what was supposedly the Batmobile on the set photos of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which director Zack Snyder quickly debunked by releasing the first official full image of The Caped Crusader’s primary vehicle. Then there was also the recent rumor that the Batmobile was stolen from the Detroit film set. To combat that rumor, Snyder used his on-going Star Wars mash-up joke to clear up the situation — the director posted a photo to Twitter of a Stormtrooper (the famed Star Wars Imperial soldiers) being put into a GCPD squad car by the Gotham City cops, with the Batmobile nearby. Snyder captioned the photo “Case closed.”

Regarding that mash-up joke, here’s the history of it:

Back in July during San Diego Comic-Con, Snyder posted to Twitter an image of his Superman Henry Cavill dressed in Jedi garb with red lightsaber in hand, with the hashtag #SuperJedi. He followed that one up with a photo of called “BATMAN & R2BIN” of Batman and the droid R2-D2, which he tweeted directly to Star Wars: Episode VII director J.J. Abrams. The photo mash-ups of the Superman and Star Wars universes not only titillated geeks the world over, but set off a fun on-going Twitter exchange between Snyder and Abrams, the latter of whom responded in kind with an image of C-3PO as Batman with the Rebel Alliance symbol lit up in the sky in place of the Bat Signal, calling it “THE C3PED CRUSADER.”

This leads us to Snyder’s latest installment of the Stormtrooper with the Batmobile. It’s likely that this mash-up exchange with Abrams will continue (let’s hope!), so we’ll see what Abrams has in store next.
