Stormtrooper with the Gotham City Police

First there were those low-quality images of what was supposedly the Batmobile on the set photos of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which director Zack Snyder quickly debunked by releasing the first official full image of The Caped Crusader’s primary vehicle. Then there was also the recent rumor that the Batmobile was stolen from the Detroit film set. To combat that rumor, Snyder used his on-going Star Wars mash-up joke to clear up the situation — the director posted a photo to Twitter of a Stormtrooper (the famed Star Wars Imperial soldiers) being put into a GCPD squad car by the Gotham City cops, with the Batmobile nearby. Snyder captioned the photo “Case closed.”

Check out the new Star Wars mash-up in full here below.

Batman vs Superman

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder has revealed the first official full look at the upcoming film’s Batmobile.

Check out the photo here below.

The director posted the image to Twitter on September 10 with the caption “Here’s a real picture of the #Batmobile.” The post came after cell-phone quality photos were posted by an Instagram user who claimed they were behind-the-scenes images of The Caped Crusader’s primary vehicle.

Batman vs. Superman

Outside of a ceaseless parade of casting news there has been little revealed regarding Warner Bros.’ Man of Steel sequel/2016 superhero team-up epic which may or may not be called Batman Vs. Superman (which I will refer to it as for the sake of this article), until now.

Yesterday director Zack Snyder teased the reveal and today he’s not only given us our first good glimpse at the new Batmobile, but he also threw in our first look at star Ben Affleck in full Batman costume, via his Twitter feed.

Silver Age Batmobile

Last week, U.S. District Judge Ronald Lew made a decision to allow DC Comics to sue a man who was making and selling Batmobiles on the grounds of copyright and trademark infringement. Despite numerous articles you may have read, this is nothing new.

Automobile enthusiast Mark Towles was manufacturing and selling a variety of Batmobiles through his company Gotham Garage as well as other items from TV and movie history including the 1966 version of the Batboat and the famed Munsters family car. DC Comics found out about this man’s company and decided that it was within their right to file a claim against the man for violation of copyright and patents that they’ve had on the Batmobile for decades. Towles and his attorney attempted to have the copyright claim, and thusly the entire case, thrown out against him because they did not believe that an automobile could be copyrighted. They were completely and utterly wrong.
