Lizzie Borden took an ax
And gave her mother forty whacks.
When she saw what she had done,
She gave her father forty-one.

Lifetime — a network that used to be associated with Hallmark-y movies that took B- or C-List actors and made them fall in love, enjoy Christmas, rescue puppies, and the like — has been grabbing movies and television of a darker nature, most likely to appeal to a wider demographic, which makes perfect sense.
On April 5, 2015, Lifetime not only returns to the dark with a new limited series, The Lizzie Borden Chronicles, it delves back into the world of one of its own made-for-tv movies. For the new miniseries, Christina Ricci reprises her role as as Lizzie Borden, the innocent-looking Sunday school teacher, who was acquitted of brutally murdering her parents, amidst much debate and controversy.

Chronicles take place four months after the trial, and people are dying again. Lizzie is once again a suspect. Clea Duvall (Argo) also returns as Emma Borden, with Cole Hauser (Rogue, Olympus Has Fallen) as Detective Charlie Siringo and Jonathan Banks (Better Caul Saul) as business partner Mr. Flowers.
The Lizzie Borden Chronicles premieres for an 8-episode run on Sunday, April 5th at 10pm.
The Lizzie Borden Chronicles delivers an intense and fictionalized account of actual events and people surrounding Lizzie’s life after her controversial acquittal of the horrific double murder of her father and stepmother in 1892, when the exonerated figure lives a life awash in newfound celebrity. But when numerous people close to Lizzie – ranging from her half-brother to Broadway luminaries and the head of the criminal underworld — start to mysteriously die under brutal and strange circumstances, legendary Pinkerton detective Charlie Siringo (Cole Hauser, Good Will Hunting) becomes determined to prove her involvement in their ultimate demise. Emmy nominee John Heard (The Sopranos) will portray William Almy, the business partner of Lizzie’s murdered father Andrew, while Lizzie’s half-brother William will be played by Andrew Howard (Hatfields & McCoys).
Premieres Sunday, April 5, at 10pm ET/PT
