The first images and teaser of the Josh Trank-directed Fantastic Four didn’t even hint at the powers of the super-powered group, with the exception of The Thing/Ben Grimm (Jamie Bell) and a very quick shot of Mr. Fantastic/Reed Richards (Miles Teller) stretching out his arm. Missing in all the action were Sue Storm’s (Kate Mara) powers of invisibility and Johnny Storm’s (Michael B. Jordan) ability to turn himself into the The Human Torch.
But now a newly modified poster from Fox reveals the powers of the two aforementioned characters, but not much else. Hit the jump to check out the full poster for Fantastic Four.
Fox revealed the new poster on the film’s official Twitter account.
As you can see, the poster is a shot of the final scene shown in the teaser trailer. That piece of footage didn’t even have our heroes fully reveal their powers, only showing The Thing in his hard-muscled rock form.
With this new poster though, comes the addition of Johnny Storm’s hands on fire, and the light transparency of Sue Storm. Of course, this could have to do more with Photoshop than anything else. Is the poster a bit disappointing? Yes. But we are still very early in the film’s marketing campaign, and with the movie set for a release in August, there are still a lot more promotional materials left to be revealed.
Here’s the official plot synopsis:
FANTASTIC FOUR, a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel’s original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy.
Fantastic Four is produced and co-written by Simon Kinberg (X-Men: Days of Future Past, Cinderella) and also stars Toby Kebbell (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Wrath of the Titans). Fox has scheduled the movie for an August 7, 2015 release.
