‘Vikings’ Midseason Trailer and Speak Like A Viking! (Video)

Vikings Charging Shore Ragnar Rollo Lagertha

Lots of Viking videos today, my friends! We have just passed the halfway point into this delicious season, and my god… how else will they shock and entertain us? A god had walked among them, we lost a major character, mass slaughter, sex, sex, and more sex, and tons of betrayal. Just a beautiful day in the neighborhoods of Kattegat and Wessex, right?

The midseason trailer does a quick flash of images before focusing on the upcoming atack on Paris, which is next on Ragnar’s (Travis Fimmel) to-do list. And oh no she didn’t! Queen Aslaug (Alyssa Sutherland) better not have said, “Kill the priest.” Does she not know, given the choice, Ragnar would choose Athelstan (George Blagden) every time?

Continue below for the midseason trailer as well as a handful of other videos.

The promo for tomorrow night’s episode, shows sullen Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) lamenting (stoically lamenting — she is a shieldmaiden after all) the loss of her ships to Kalf (Ben Robson). I’m kinda miffed at Ragnar for not standing up for her.

What I love about Vikings is not just that they have great actors, lots of action, blood, eye candy, and scenery. The crew behind the scenes are just as dedicated — make-up artists, dialect coaches, editors, and the marketing people that air these adorable webisodes and vignettes of all things Vikings.

In “Speak Like a Viking,” Poll Moussoulides, dialogue and ancient language coach on Vikings, explains how he comes up with the viking-speak. Because there are no recordings of that language, the closest they could get was old Icelandic.

Here are some lines in the made up language:

“Deyja Skelt pU” = “You are going to die!”

“Nei, snara pAT” = No, It’s a trap!”

Other lessons on what is called Transformation Tuesdays are “Shieldmaiden Hair,” Floki’s Guyliner,” and “Viking Tattoos” which are included below to give you all the tools to turn you into a genuine viking warrior!

I’m definitely gonna try the Shieldmaiden hair.

Vikings airs Thursday nights at 10pm on The History Channel.
