Since Zack Snyder‘s long-awaited Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice won’t be bowing in theaters until almost a year from now and its success is crucial to laying the groundwork for DC Comics’ own cinematic universe, it would behoove Warner Bros. to get cracking on that marketing campaign. The longer they wait, the more Marvel Studios eats their lunch with exciting announcements on a weekly basis, and they know it.
Apparently the wait for the world to get a glimpse at genuine footage from Dawn is almost over as Warner Bros. has decided to premiere the first full trailer early this summer. The website The Projection List has a lengthy rundown of the new trailers we can expect to see debuting in front of this year’s biggest theatrical releases, and a teaser trailer for Dawn is scheduled to run before Warners’ first major summer release, Mad Max: Fury Road, along with new trailers for Pan and Terminator: Genisys and a teaser trailer for Jeff Nichols’ mysterious sci-fi feature Midnight Special.
As Fury Road inches closer to its opening day I’m sure a description of the Dawn of Justice teaser will leak, but for now all we have is a likely premiere date. Start your salivating, fans.
Warners and DC are making the right choice to put the first Batman v Superman trailer out before Fury Road. The Mad Max sequel’s only promotional campaign has threatened to reduce the Internet to a post-apocalyptic wasteland in the past week with the release of a quartet of television spots and the explosively insane final theatrical trailer. People are actually suggesting it could pose a legitimate threat to The Avengers: Age of Ultron, which opens two weeks before. Having the Dawn of Justice trailer open in front of Fury Road could immeasurably help both movies at the box office.
Mad Max: Fury Road opens on May 15, 2015. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens on March 25, 2016.
