Well, that was fast. Warner Bros. Pictures has planned to unveil the long-awaited teaser trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice on Monday following the premiere of 15 minutes of footage on select IMAX screens across the country. Then the trailer would debut online and
be attached to screenings of Mad Max: Fury Road.
That was the initial plan anyway, but following the unanticipated leak of the trailer yesterday, the studio has apparently (and wisely) decided to grant it an official release a few days ahead of schedule.
You can check it out in glorious high-definition here below.
This is a very dark and brooding teaser that hints at the dark and brooding tone we can expect of the Zack Snyder-directed feature. Ben Affleck certainly makes for a grim Bruce Wayne/Batman, while Henry Cavill‘s Superman is a far cry from the optimistic champion of truth, justice, and the American way that the late Christopher Reeve represented to millions of fans across the globe, but this is what Warners and DC want out of their competing cinematic universe and therefore we have to hope for the best.
We do get to hear the fleeting voices of Jesse Eisenberg (as new Lex Luthor) and Jeremy Irons (as new Alfred Pennyworth), not to mention Holly Hunter in the integral role of Whoever-The-Heck, but I still don’t know what to make of Bat-fleck’s modulated voice. Mixed emotions, ladies and germs. Maybe this will play better on the big screen.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice co-stars Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Gal Gadot, and Jason Momoa, and hits theaters on March 25, 2016.
