If you’ve been craving a nice remake—you know, a change of pace from all the original content being produced—a new one is on the way. It’s being reported that Sony Pictures is set to remake their 1996 witching horror The Craft, which starred Robin Tunney, Fairuza Balk, Neve Campbell, and Rachel True.
The studio has tapped Leigh Janiak to direct the remake, which tells the story of four teenage girls at a boarding school who are pursuing the arts of witchcraft in hopes of bettering their current life situations. Janiak made a bit of a splash in the horror world recently, writing and directing Honeymoon starring Rose Leslie and Harry Treadaway. She also directed an episode of the upcoming Scream TV series on MTV.
Phil Graziadei will pen the screenplay along with Janiak, with original producer Doug Wick returning to produce the remake as well. Lucy Fisher, who was vice chairman of Columbia Pictures back when the original was made in ’96, will also be a producer.

Does not need a remake.
