Ryan Reynolds took plenty of shots about being the Green Lantern at yesterday’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con, and Wade Wilson (aka Deadpool) even mocked that if he got a suit, it shouldn’t be green or animated. Though Warner Bros might have wished they could turn back the clock and never have made their Reynolds , Green Lantern film, it does still exist. But with DC Films now fully realizing their comic book universe, they are announcing a slate of films of both heroes and villains.

During their panel yesterday, Warner Bros. widened the screens at Hall H to reveal all their heroes who would appear in Justice League. We already knew that Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), and The Flash (Ezra Miller) would be in the film, but as the screen continued to flash the Justice League roster, there was no name attached to Cyborg, though previous reports have said that Ray Fisher would play him.

But the biggest reveal was that there would be a DC film for The Green Lantern Corps. More below.

Obviously not much could be revealed at the time, but the Green Lantern Corps title card appearing does confirm that the film will center on the group of chosen heroes who wield power rings. As previously mentioned, WB’s last Green Lantern effort did not fare as well with critics or audiences, and is considered a huge commercial flop.

Here’s a little bit about the Green Lantern Corps from Wikipedia,

The Green Lantern Corps has been in existence for three billion years, surviving multiple conflicts both internal and foreign. Currently operating divided as pairs amongst the 3600 “sectors” of the universe, there are 7200 members, two lanterns for every sector (known commonly as Green Lanterns) are estimated to be serving within the Corps. Each Green Lantern is given a power ring, a weapon granting the use of incredible abilities that are directed by the wearer’s own willpower.

Now it has been rumored that Chris Pine would play Hal Jordan. But there are also a few other Green Lantern heroes that the studio could use. Guy Gardner, John Stewart, Kyle Rayner just to name a few. Also, Pine is rumored to appear in Wonder Woman as Steve Trevor, the World War II pilot who crashes and discovers Paradise Island, home of the title hero.

Since this is the Green Lantern Corps, we don’t know if the studio will decide to use one or more human Lanterns. Also, the studio did not reveal when the film would be released, indicating that it could be sometime after Justice League is out. Of course they may already have something ready and are just waiting on the cast and creative team to sign on the dotted line.
