| Geoff Johns Exits DC Entertainment Position; Will Write ‘Green Lantern Corps’ |
|
The long-gestating Green Lantern Corps hasn’t been in the news much since it was announced at Comic-Con a few years back. Since then, we’ve seen very little of the character in the DCEU. In fact, one lantern made an appearance in the opening sequence of Justice League. But Green Lantern Corps is just one of the many titles to be announced in recent years. Unfortunately, Justice League‘s poor box office performance, forced Warner Bros. to rethink their plans for the DCEU. This included revamping the creative forces behind it. And now it looks like there will be even more changes. But they will be positive ones. Reports are saying Geoff Johns, who was the head of DC Entertainment, will be stepping down from his position. He will, however, be staying at WB and stick close to DC. That’s because Johns will be launching his own production company, Mad Ghost Productions, within the studio all the while writing the script for the Green Lantern Corps movie. | David Goyer Could Direct ‘Suicide Squad 2’ Or ‘Green Lantern Corps’
Like Marvel Studios, Warner Bros would like to release at least two superhero films a year. Last year, the studio released Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad. This year they will be releasing Wonder Woman and Justice League. Next year puts that plan in jeopardy as they only have Aquaman scheduled for release. However, they clearly want to put one of five films into production, so they can keep releasing two a year. While we still don’t know if the film is going to be The Flash, Suicide Squad 2, Dark Universe, Gotham City Sirens, or Green Lantern Corps, there is a rumor that WB wants David Goyer to be the director of one of them. More on the story below.

| WB Wants To Shoot A DC Film Now For A 2018 Release
Warner Bros.’ DC Extended Universe got off to a rocky start. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad has given the vast majority the confidence the franchise needs to believe that it can compete with Marvel Studios. Still, early reactions to Wonder Woman have given us some assurance that there can be a decent DCEU film. James Wan is behind the lens for Aquaman. And despite some of the creative fallout, The Batman seems to be headed in the right direction now that Matt Reeves is the director. Now there is word that Warner Bros. wants to start shooting a DC film this year. With The Batman set for a possible 2018 shoot, the rumor is that the studio has narrowed it down to five possible choices. Check out which film it could be here below.

| David Goyer, Justin Rhodes To Pen ‘Green Lantern Corps’ Script
Warner Bros. and DC have been setting up for their superhero standalone films post Justice League by introducing some notable heroes in the ensemble films. But one hero who has been absent is Green Lantern. We learned that the next Green Lantern film wouldn’t be about one particular Green Lantern but the entire Green Lantern Corps, with the possibility that one of them would make a cameo appearance in Justice League. Whether or not the rumor is true remains to be seen, however, it looks like WB is pushing forward with the film’s development by hiring David Goyer and Justin Rhodes to write the script. | Tyrese Gibson Confirms ‘Green Lantern Corps’ Talks With Warner Bros. It’s been four years since audiences saw a Green Lantern on the big screen. While the 2011 film was a disastrous flop, Warner Bros. and DC are now planning a big-screen reimagining of the character. Rather than just have one human be the Green Lantern, the studio announced Green Lantern Corps as one of their upcoming films for the DC Cinematic Universe during their panel at SDCC just a few weeks back. Since the film is set for a 2020 release, long after Justice League Part 2 is out, its in very early development, but that hasn’t stopped the studio from courting actors. In an interview with Collider, Tyrese Gibson confirms that he has been talking to Warner Bros. about potentially starring in the Green Lantern Corps. More on the story below.
