Justice League

It’s not easy to understand what exactly is going on with Warner Brothers’ DC film properties. For one thing, they have two Joker films, an uncertain future with other DCEU titles, and a number of previous titles that have failed to live up to expectations. The only reasonably good DCEU film the studio has is Wonder Woman. And after a series of stumbles, the studio is looking to Walter Hamada to steer DC in the right direction.

Hamada, who was named president of DC Entertainment-based film production at Warner Bros. in January, will have to figure out its future. This includes sorting out the DCEU films and giving its much darker ones a new banner. More on the story below.

Geoff Johns To Write Green Lantern Corps

The long-gestating Green Lantern Corps hasn’t been in the news much since it was announced at Comic-Con a few years back. Since then, we’ve seen very little of the character in the DCEU. In fact, one lantern made an appearance in the opening sequence of Justice League. But Green Lantern Corps is just one of the many titles to be announced in recent years. Unfortunately, Justice League‘s poor box office performance, forced Warner Bros. to rethink their plans for the DCEU. This included revamping the creative forces behind it. And now it looks like there will be even more changes. But they will be positive ones.

Reports are saying Geoff Johns, who was the head of DC Entertainment, will be stepping down from his position. He will, however, be staying at WB and stick close to DC. That’s because Johns will be launching his own production company, Mad Ghost Productions, within the studio all the while writing the script for the Green Lantern Corps movie. Swamp Thing Bernie Wrightson

Despite some of the shaky later seasons for Arrow and The Flash, DC television is far superior to its Marvel competitors. New shows like Krypton and Black Lightning may not be connected to the Arrowverse, but they have proven to be huge hits with TV audiences. The comic book company has a number of properties to work with, and they have now announced their latest superhero to get a series treatment. It’s been revealed that a live-action Swamp Thing is in the works.

The series will be coming to DC’s digital streaming service, called DC Universe, and Aquaman director James Wan will be one of the creative figureheads behind the upcoming show. More on the story and an image of the logo below.

Wonder Woman Header Image

Comic-Con Saturday is really shaping up to be just like any other Comic-Con Saturday, with the biggest, most geeked out studios having panels to present highly anticipated movies. Marvel will be there for Doctor Strange and Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2, maybe another surprise too, because the studio knows what’s up. Then there is Kong: Skull Island from Legendary. Finally, there’s Warner Bros., who will be there for their DCEU shared universe. After the fallout of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, we are eagerly awaiting to see how they’ll recover, and their upcoming slate seems to indicate that they can. Both Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman look very exciting, and let’s not forget that Justice League is in the middle of production, so we could get a sweet teaser from them.

But here is an interesting tid bit that was revealed in a press release. The film may have gotten some new writers that we never knew about. The Wonder Woman movie starring Gal Gadot has been written by Zack Snyder, Geoff Johns, and Allan Heinberg. More on the story below.
