So You Think You Can Dance last night featured our Top 8. We are slowly closing in on “America’s Favorite Dancer,” whom we learned last week earns a spot in JLo’s show in Las Vegas! The All-Stars are now on the show, and they bring that extra element of professionalism to an already dynamic show. Some are back this week, as well as a few new ones. My favorite choreographer is back, and Tyce Diorio is not my favorite because he went to my elementary school, and was already a popular kid. His routines are always unique and beautiful, and his personality as a guest judge over the years was just icing. That’s what I miss about this season, as much as I love judges Nigel Lythgoe, Paula Abdul, and Jason Derulo. They can add a 4th guest judge, no? Host Cat Deeley, gorgeous as ever, led the festivities, and let us know that tickets are on sale now to the SYTYCD live tour (I have been to a few – always a party, and I already have my tickets), at Ticketmaster.com, or on FOX.com.
Watch the SYTYCD performances and the breathtaking image gallery below. Results are at the bottom, so spoiler alert!
Choreographer(s): Sean Cheesman Dancers: Virgil & All-Star Jasmine Style: African Jazz Song: “Kintamani (Hanoman’s Forest Mix)” by Transglobal Underground
I love how Virgil and Jasmine took turns being the puppetmasters in this routine. Virgil is just so versatile. Check out the slow motion while on his head move, that just shocked me. He is incredible and passionate in every move he makes.
Choreographer(s): Tyce Diorio Dancers: Derek & All-Star Jaime Style: Contemporary Song: “Never Dreamed You’d Leave In Summer” by Stevie Wonder
Such strong beauty from both of these talents. I felt the breakup between them.
Choreographer(s): Luther Brown Dancers: Hailee & All-Star Fik-Shun Style: Hip Hop Song: “Let It Go” by Chonique Sneed
Okay. While I did find it hard to take my eyes off of Fik-Shun in his element (he’s just sooo good mixed with tons of fun), Hailee really kept up and hit her moves with precision. I would not have guessed that she hadn’t had years of hip hop practice. She gave just enough sneer. Look for Fik-Shun’s smooth backward slide under her legs.
Choreographer(s): Jean Marc Genereux Dancers: Megz & All-Star Paul Style: Paso Doble Song: “Blade of Blood” by Tom Player
My Megz is an Amazon warrior. She might have been a little too strong for it, but she tried so hard. I hope this doesn’t hurt her chances.
Choreographer(s): Ray Leeper Dancers: Neptune & All-Star Kayla Style: Jazz Song: “Infinity” by The xx
Neptune flowed like water in this jazz piece, that seemed more contemporary than anything else. Although his extensions were not as lengthy as they could have been, I think he still held up his half, with such a powerful dancer as Kayla.
Choreographer(s): Pharside & Phoenix Dancers: Jim & All-Star Comfort Style: Hip Hop Song: “Hey Mama” by David Guetta feat. Nicki Minaj, Bebe Rexha, & Afrojack
Jim is such a talent, but he definitely looked uncomfortable in this routine. Comfort is magical as Medusa. Jim did hit every step, but I don’t think it was enough.
Choreographer(s): Mandy Moore Dancers: Gaby & All-Star Robert Style: Contemporary Song: “Angel” by Sarah McLachlan
Although I’m not a huge fan of this song, it does go hand in hand with contemporary routines like peanut butter and jelly. All-Star Robert is one of my past faves, as his talent encompasses a wide range of dance styles. Gaby is a perfect fit in this way as well. She definitely delivered for this routine. She already had the moves. It was her emotion that emanates into you as you watch her. Her holds and leaps were magnificent.
Choreographer(s): Al Blackstone Dancers: Jaja & All-Star Ricky Style: Broadway Song: “Let’s Face The Music And Dance” by Nat King Cole
What can I say more about my favorite dancer? Jaja is perfect in this Broadway number as if she was born there. Having Ricky helps. You can see she took his incredibly strong lead and flourished. She owned this, and she is a star, whatever she does after this.

SYTYCD Results? We had to say goodbye to Neptune and Derek. Although these two are beautiful dancers, I kinda knew these two were next, based on how I feel about the 6 that are left.
