Into The Badlands is AMC’s new 6-episode martial arts series, airing this November. First introduced at SDCC this past summer, this genre breaking show could be the key for a martial arts TV explosion, one we are all ready for, amidst the superhero and supernatural cavalcade of shows.
Watch the exciting trailers below.
The 1st trailer seems quite dystopian with a bloody American flag, and a world of swords.
“Justice without mercy. Survival is a fight. Freedom is an illusion. And no one escapes.”
Isn’t that how all battles begin?
The 2nd one’s title is “No Guns.” Good. I hope there are no guns on the show, so it is all skill with hand and sword.
“In a world without guns, fighting is an art.”
It certainly is.
Starring Daniel Wu, Emily Beechum, Sarah Bolger, Orla Brady, Aramis Knight, Madeleine Mantock, Ally Ioannides, Marton Csokas, Oliver Stark, Mike Seal, and Benjamin Papac, if this show is successful, we could start seeing an influx of these types of shows. There’s a rabid martial arts fanbase, that would kill for some new quality television in this genre.
Into The Badlands premieres Sunday, November 15th on AMC.
AMC’s synopsis:
Into the Badlands is a genre-bending martial arts series very loosely based on the classic Chinese tale Journey to the West. In a land controlled by feudal barons, Into the Badlands tells the story of a great warrior and a young boy who embark on a journey across a dangerous land to find enlightenment.
