Central Intelligence trailer Dwayne Johnson

If there is one thing that makes Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson so likable, it’s his ability to play any role in any film with no shame. He can be tough and dramatic on one end, but also drop his vanity can be funny and charming. Now pair that up with the always hilarious Kevin Hart, and you got a great combination for an action-comedy film.

Warner Bros has released the first trailer for Central Intelligence, a film that sees Johnson as a CIA agent accidentally getting Hart’s character wrapped up in a mission, and on the eve of their high school reunion of all times. Check out the full trailer below.

Rawson Marshall Thurber (We’re The Millers, Dodgeball), who was in the running to direct Ant-Man at one point in time, directs the film, which also stars Ed Helms, Amy Ryan, Danielle Nicolet, Bobby Brown, and Aaron Paul.

As we see in the trailer, Kevin Hart plays a mild-mannered accountant, who was the most popular high school sports athlete. Johnson was the complete opposite of that. He was considered the loser of his high school, and was the subject of bullying. So, of course, years later right before their high school reunion, Johnson contacts Hart through Facebook. However, he has done a complete 180, and is now a CIA agent.

But what really sells this film is the fact that Johnson’s character remains calm and composed, even during a hail of gunfire, while Hart, who is caught in the middle of all of this, is screaming and shouting and wishing he was somewhere else. Despite Johnson’s muscular and tough figure, his ability to let loose and have fun makes him that much more charming.

And the two seem to have some great chemistry, as both play off each other really well with Johnson trying to convince Hart that despite the situation, everything will be fine. Their differences in height and demeanor also make for some hilarious bantering.

Ike Barinholtz (The Mindy Project, Sisters), David Stassen (The Mindy Project), and Peter Steinfeld (21, Be Cool) wrote the screenplay.

Warner Bros has scheduled Central Intelligence to hits theaters on June 17, 2016.

Here’s the official plot synopsis,

Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart star in the action comedy Central Intelligence, for New Line Cinema and Universal Pictures.

The story follows a one-time bullied geek who grew up to be a lethal CIA agent (Johnson), coming home for his high-school reunion. Claiming to be on a top-secret case, he enlists the help of the former “big man on campus” (Hart), now an accountant who misses his glory days. But before the staid numbers-cruncher realizes what he’s getting into, it’s too late to get out, as his increasingly unpredictable new friend drags him through a world of shoot-outs, double-crosses and espionage that could get them both killed in more ways than he can count.
