Thanksgiving is here on Brooklyn Nine-Nine! Charles (Jo Lo Truglio) comes in dressed like a turkey named Tommy Gobbler (shout out to Brooklyn’s P.S. 321). The episode is littered with “thanks” in the funniest way possible. The Internet is down which means everyone has to do a ton of paperwork all day, making the precinct hectic. But the biggest responsibility belongs to Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg), who needs to take care of a very pregnant Mrs. Jeffers, until Terry and Diaz (Terry Crews and Stephanie Beatriz) get back from interviewing someone at Rikers. His biggest job will be to keep Captain Holt away from her. He is always very weird around her like “those judgmental trees from Lord of the Rings.”
Some spoilers below.
Why does Terry want Holt away from his wife? We flash back to why:
Holt: “You look so big, like a mighty truck.” Dying!
Gina agrees to help, and they pull a successful stunt to whisk her away.
Gina: “Damn we are good at stashing pregnant ladies.”
And it is at that moment her water broke. Peralta is completely and hilariously awkward around his god-wife whom he will “god-love forever”:
“How are you doing vaginally?”
Jake finally has to tell Holt why they are hiding her from him. His reaction?
“That’s ridiculous. I should go confront her at length.” Haha!
Holt is so offended, pretending not to be.
Terry cries to the perp to give up the info quick so he can get back to his wife. And it works! The perp cries too. He is on his way back on a slow-stop-slow train. Everything that can go wrong does go wrong. They jump on a police motorcycle. Rosa is driving and Terry fears for his life.
Jake is a self-proclaimed “hero and a time of crisis.”
Some other things you might hear and see in this episode (so watch, watch, watch!) are:
– Vaginal Gandalf
– Guest star Nick Offerman as Raymond Holt’s ex-boyfriend
– “Think positive thoughts. You’re in a Channing Tatum movie.”
– “Would you mind just standing there with your glorious beard?”
And you will learn that Terry Jeffers makes big babies (14 pounds!!!). Did you doubt that for a second?
This was a great episode once again. Though they used the age-old, “I’m having a baby” comedy routine, it was unique the way this precinct always is.
There’s a side thing where everyone can be thankful except Boyle. He and Amy have to do all the paperwork by hand. That’s the less funny part, but everything about this show is so good, less funny is still way funnier than any other show has to offer.
I am thankful that I get to watch these crazy kids every week with a giant smile on my face.
