To say that Pixar’s latest animated short Sanjay’s Super Team is unlike any other animated short from a big animation studio would be a vast understatement. On the surface, it may look like a short that is talking about Hinduism, but deep down it has something a bit more meaningful and delivers a very universal message. Director Sanjay Patel and producer Nicole Paradis Grindle were at The Good Dinosaur‘s press day to talk a little bit about the short itself to Geeks Of Doom and our fellow journalists.
During the roundtable interview, we learned about Patel’s experiences that helped inspire the short to become what it is now, how the goal was to give the mass audience a universal message about family, what superheroes Patel used to watch as a kid, and much, much more. Check out our full interview with the director here below.

Chris Hemsworth Wants ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ To Be Just As Funny As ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’

Phase One of the Marvel Cinematic Universe saw Thor as a complete fish-out-of-water. The film, which was directed by Kenneth Branagh, can be considered the funniest of the Phase One. However, the sequel to the character’s solo franchise lived up to its title by taking a dark turn in Thor: The Dark World. The film still maintain its more fantastical aspects, but it was a little strange not to see Thor react strangely to human customs. And it seems that film star Chris Hemsworth agrees. Whether or not people would have been tired of that trope or if Marvel purposefully wanted The Dark World to lack humor is not clear. But what is clear is that some of the cast wants to bring the funny back.
In a new interview, the actor talks about how Thor: Ragnarok could use a “little dose” of Guardians of the Galaxy to bring back the humor and comedy that the first film was known for. Check out Hemsworth’s full comments on what he liked to see in the Thor sequel below.

Tom Cruise In Talks For ‘Mummy’ Reboot; Will Begin Monsters Shared Universe

There’s no doubt whatsoever that many eyes rolled at the news that Universal was going to attempt to turn their classic monsters into a shared universe similar to what Marvel has been doing, beginning with a reboot of The Mummy. But when a name like Tom Cruise comes into the picture, eyebrows will no doubt raise above those previously rolled eyeballs…making for some truly silly faces others will giggle at.
It’s being reported that Cruise has entered into talks for a role in the new Mummy flick, which makes things much more interesting. Who would Cruise play? That’s unclear at the moment…but given that this is a shared universe, you can expect that it would be a multi-picture deal that would see him showing up in other movies that will follow The Mummy centering on Wolf Man, Dracula, and more.

‘Tremors’ TV Reboot In The Works With Kevin Bacon!

Twenty-five years ago, long after the Cold War gave us an entire generation of giant monster movies; a crew met out in the middle of the desert (or the town of Perfection, Nevada) to make Tremors. On a budget of about $11 million, director Ron Underwood helped created one of the coolest and most original monster movies in years. A young, fresh out of the awesome 80’s Kevin Bacon played Valentine “Val” McKee, and Fred Ward was his slightly older, slightly wiser partner Earl. Together, they find themselves in the middle of a mess, when giant underground creatures dubbed”Grabboids” with tentacled tongues that pull their victims in swarm the town. With the help of a rag tag crew, including a young pretty seismologist Rhonda (Finn Carter), and married gun nuts Burt and Heather (Michael Gross & Reba McEntire), they defend the town from these creatures, while spouting hilarious one-liners from a script from the duo of S.S. Wilson & Brent Maddox. The movie holds a special place in my heart as well as the hearts of young 80s kids yearning for some fun scares. The special effects hold up and the Grabboids were awesome practical monsters, some of the last before Spielberg changed the game with Jurassic Park in 1993, and CG became the way of the future.
Why are we discussing a quarter century year old classic? Because Tremors, complete with Val himself, is returning to the screen… the small screen.
More on this below.
