Hail, Caesar! Header

Universal has released a new trailer for Hail, Caesar!, written and directed by Joel and Ethan Coen. Starring Josh Brolin, George Clooney, Alden Ehrenreich, Ralph Fiennes, Jonah Hill, Scarlett Johansson, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton, and Channing Tatum.

Set in the latter years of Hollywood’s Golden Age, the film follows a fixer (Brolin) who gets tangled in a Hollywood scandal involving kidnapping an A-list movie star (Clooney), a huge ransom, and more. Check out the latest trailer for Hail, Caesar! below.

The first trailer gave us a general idea of the plot of the film, and the characters involved. But this latest trailer acts more like an extended scene in which we see Ralph Fiennes try to give a lesson to Alden Ehrenreich on how to deliver a line properly. It’s interesting to see that the scene is as long as it appears to be, extended even further when Ehrenreich starts to add extra words and gestures. Towards the end of the trailer we are treated to some snippets of the film. But it’s what the extended scene does that helps establish the Coen Brothers’ voice.

In an era that is flooded by superheroes, adaptations, sequels, prequels, and reboots, it’s nice to see that the Coen Brothers can take us back to the Golden Age of Hollywood, with vintage scandals and moviemaking. Of course, Channing Tatum dancing in a sailor suit is something worthy of your attention.

Hail, Caesar! is considered to be one of the most anticipated films of the year. It’s been nearly three years since we last saw a Coen Brothers-directed film. They wrote Bridge of Spies which was directed by Steven Spielberg and starred Tom Hanks. In addition to the new trailer, Universal has also released a brand new poster for the film.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Four-time Oscar®-winning filmmakers Joel and Ethan Coen (No Country for Old Men, True Grit, Fargo) write and direct Hail, Caesar!, an all-star comedy set during the latter years of Hollywood’s Golden Age. Starring Josh Brolin, George Clooney, Alden Ehrenreich, Ralph Fiennes, Jonah Hill, Scarlett Johansson, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton and Channing Tatum, Hail, Caesar! follows a single day in the life of a studio fixer who is presented with plenty of problems to fix.

The comedy is produced by the Coen brothers under their Mike Zoss Productions banner alongside Working Title Films’ Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner.
