Halle Berry Could Be The CIA Boss In Kingsman 2

Last year, Matthew Vaughn confirmed that he was writing Kingsman 2. He said that the sequel would have more of an international feel with the goal being to “introduce the world to the American branch of the Kingsman.” Obviously, it was too early at that time to talk about major plot points for the follow-up film, but since it was being developed it wasn’t too early for rumors or speculation. While much of that has been kept to a minimum, a new report gives us a small hint at what spy agency the Kingsman could be working with in the sequel.

The report says Halle Berry is now being courted to play the big boss over at the CIA. More on the story below.

In addition to writing the sequel, Vaughn will also return to direct. Deadline says should Berry sign on, it would be for at least two films. This wouldn’t be the first time that the actress has appeared in a 20th Century Fox franchise. She previously appeared in four of the six X-Men films as the weather-manipulating mutant, Storm.

Now it is not exactly clear if Berry’s character knows/is in contact with “American branch of the Kingsman.” Since this is a spy-genre film, you can expect a double-cross or two. So who knows, maybe Berry’s character is a double agent who worked her way up the ranks of the CIA. It’s still too early to know anything about the sequel itself, but Vaughn says we will learn more about it as the movie continues to be developed. Julianne Moore is also in talks to star as the film’s villain. One thing is for sure, there will be a few more characters that will be added to this time around, so expect more casting announcements as the sequel gets closer to start filming.

Berry can next be seen in the Luis Prieto-directed thriller Kidnap, which is scheduled for a May release.

Based on the Mark Millar comic of the same name, Kingsman earned $128 million domestically, and $414.3 million worldwide. The film beat all sorts of expectations and was also released in the month of February – which is generally a dumping ground for studios.

20th Century Fox has scheduled Kingsman 2 for a June 16, 2017 release. We’ll keep you posted on new developments as they come in.
