Given what our reviews have said about Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, how will an extra 30 minutes help the Ultimate Edition? While there was a lot of missing information from the theatrical cut, a newly released trailer to promote the Blu-ray seems to fill in some of the plot holes giving us hope that maybe this was the film that was supposed to be released in the first place.
We’ve already seen one tiny glimpse of the Ultimate Edition which supposedly has an Easter Egg to the main villain in Justice League, but this trailer seems to focus more on filling in those gaps with never-before-seen footage. Check out the trailer below.
The new footage that appears in the trailer is Clark watching the news about the North Africa incident; our first look at Jena Malone as Barbra Gordon; a sweeping shot of newspaper headlines about Superman; a witness offering Clark a clue about Batman in the form of Batman’s insignia scratched onto lottery ticket; some close-up shots of the Batmobile racing out of the Batcave; the showdown between the three heroes and Doomsday; a missile being fired; Bruce gazing into the powerful Kryptonite spear; as well as a few more things. But is that footage enough to save the film? That’s obviously for you to decide.
But from the looks of things, a lot of that missing footage would have helped us have the info we needed to explain the plot. It should be interesting to see how much of the new footage will have an impact on the overall film. And this trailer is certainly making a case for everyone to revisit Batman v Superman once more.
If you didn’t like the film, does this trailer make you want to see Ultimate Edition or has the theatrical cut scarred you so much that you will never watch it again?
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice arrives on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, Combo 3D Blu-ray, standard Blu-ray Combo, and DVD on July 19th, but it will arrive on Digital HD much earlier on June 28.
I am utterly astonished. Watched the U.S. premiere of this movie; it’s absolutely one of the best comic movies ever made. Whatever Zack smoked while making this epic masterpiece, I want some.
