Comic-Con Saturday is really shaping up to be just like any other Comic-Con Saturday, with the biggest, most geeked out studios having panels to present highly anticipated movies. Marvel will be there for Doctor Strange and Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2, maybe another surprise too, because the studio knows what’s up. Then there is Kong: Skull Island from Legendary. Finally, there’s Warner Bros., who will be there for their DCEU shared universe. After the fallout of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, we are eagerly awaiting to see how they’ll recover, and their upcoming slate seems to indicate that they can. Both Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman look very exciting, and let’s not forget that Justice League is in the middle of production, so we could get a sweet teaser from them.

But here is an interesting tid bit that was revealed in a press release. The film may have gotten some new writers that we never knew about. The Wonder Woman movie starring Gal Gadot has been written by Zack Snyder, Geoff Johns, and Allan Heinberg. More on the story below.

It’s interesting to see that WB would be making such an announcement well after the movie completed principal photography. Directed by Patty Jenkins, Jason Fuchs (Pan) was previously credited with writing the movie. But with his name clearly omitted from the press release, it seems that the studio wanted to go in a direction than what Fuchs had to offer.

Johns, a Chief Creative Officer at DC Comics, was recently named as one of the heads of the DCEU. Writing credits include Green Lantern, starring Ryan Reynolds, and DC’s current slate of DC Comic shows Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl. Heinberg also has some TV credits under his belt. He’s written for The O.C., Gilmore Girls, and three of ABC’s Shondaland top dramas: Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, and The Catch.

Here’s an excerpt from the new press release:

“Wonder Woman” hits movie theaters around the world next summer when Gal Gadot returns as the title character in the epic action-adventure from director Patty Jenkins. Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers”¦and her true destiny.

Joining Gadot in the international cast are Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, David Thewlis, Danny Huston, Elena Anaya, Ewen Bremner and Saïd Taghmaoui. Jenkins directs the film from a screenplay by Allan Heinberg and Geoff Johns, story by Zack Snyder & Allan Heinberg, based on characters from DC Entertainment. Wonder Woman was created by William Moulton Marston. The film is produced by Charles Roven, Zack Snyder, Deborah Snyder and Richard Suckle, with Rebecca Roven, Stephen Jones, Wesley Coller and Geoff Johns serving as executive producers. Warner Bros. Pictures presents, in association with RatPac-Dune Entertainment, an Atlas Entertainment/Cruel and Unusual production, “Wonder Woman.” The film is scheduled for release on June 2, 2017, and will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company. www.wonderwomanfilm.com
