Doctor Strange

It is going to be hard to believe that any hero that has appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe would not have a role in Avengers: Infinity War. Though the team is currently fractured, they would most likely have to put their differences aside to fight Thanos. As far as we know, the founding members, maybe the Guardians of the Galaxy, members of Team Iron Man and Team Captain America, Spider-Man, and Black Panther will all participate in the fight to defend Earth. Now it looks like they won’t be alone as Benedict Cumberbatch says Doctor Strange will be joining the fray.

More on the story below.

Empire (via Express) spoke to Cumberbatch about the future of Doctor Strange. While he couldn’t speak about the character’s standalone sequels, the actor wasn’t one to shy away from talking about where his character will be in the very near future:

“To get us all together will be quite something. That’s why this character is being introduced, to open up the next chapter,” Cumberbatch added. “So watch this space to see how that unfolds.”

He then added the difficulties of the “logistical challenge of aligning his schedule with those of Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Elizabeth Olsen, and Paul Bettany“.

Cumberbatch seems to be dropping a hint that something major will be happening in Doctor Strange that will put fans one step closer to Avengers: Infinity War. Could we see another Infinity Stone or maybe even Thanos finally obtaining one after he proclaimed he would do it himself in the after credits scene of Avengers: Age Of Ultron?

But this wouldn’t be the first hint that suggests that Doctor Strange is just another important thread that connects Phase 3 of the MCU. Recent set photos of Thor: Ragnarok appears to show Thor holding a card with the address to the Sanctum Sanctorum written on it. Speculation lead us to believe that Thor, Loki, and Odin were looking for a way back to Asgard, and Doctor Strange may be the person who could help them achieve that goal.

Doctor Strange will hit theaters on November 4, 2016, while Avengers: Infinity War opens in theaters on May 4, 2018

Here’s the official synopsis for Doctor Strange:

From Marvel comes “Doctor Strange,” the story of world-famous neurosurgeon Dr. Stephen Strange whose life changes forever after a horrific car accident robs him of the use of his hands. When traditional medicine fails him, he is forced to look for healing, and hope, in an unlikely place””a mysterious enclave known as Kamar-Taj. He quickly learns that this is not just a center for healing but also the front line of a battle against unseen dark forces bent on destroying our reality. Before long Strange””armed with newly acquired magical powers””is forced to choose whether to return to his life of fortune and status or leave it all behind to defend the world as the most powerful sorcerer in existence. Join Strange on his dangerous, mystifying, and totally mind-bending journey when Marvel’s “Doctor Strange” opens in U.S. theaters on November 4, 2016.
