Last week on Gotham, we caught up with all of our old friends. Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett-Smith) became queen of the monsters, as the whole city hunted for her. Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) made the pot sweeter by offering 1 million dollars for her capture, and then acted sweeter by proclaiming his friendship for Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) Jim Gordon’s new bounty hunter job put him right in line to capture monsters for cash. Ace reporter Valerie Vale (Jamie Chung) showed up as Jim’s next love interest, er… informant? Bruce and Alfred (David Mazouz and Sean Pertwee) returned home to a pissed off Selina (Camren Bicondova), and to piss off the board at Wayne Enterprises. Bruce told them that he has the goods on them. They promptly kidnapped him. One of Mooney’s goons killed Mrs. Peabody by speedy aging, and seemed to kill Ivy (Clare Foley) the same way, as she fell a long long way.

Spoilers below.

Gotham 3.2 “Mad City: Burn the Witch” review: Bruce is kidnapped long enough to strike a deal to protect the ones he loves. In return he will stop investigating. I’m still unsure of why they leave him alive.

Valerie Vale shows up, despite the fact that Jim handcuffed her to the car. She wants the good story and he wants the million. Her source is Selina. He knows who might know where she is.

He goes to Barbara, new club owner. Barbara wants a kiss for information on Selina. He doesn’t bite… or kiss. She gives him the whereabouts anyway. But Valerie Vale gets her revenge, locking Jim out and sending the cops in for the exclusive.

Bullock and the GCPD show up and it’s a bloodbath for them. The charging monsters were a bit scary. They do manage to capture 5 of them. Bullock is on his way back, when he is summoned by Mooney. She persuades him to help her with a kiss. It’s funny how the people she touches obeys, but are cognizant of the fact that they don’t want to. Since Mrs. Peabody had no answers for Fish, there is only one person who could possible stop her dying – Dr. Strange (BD Wong).

Ivy (Maggie Geha) crawls out of the water all grown up. A stranger gives her water and clothes, but he doesn’t take care of his house plants – uh-oh. He definitely should have watered them.

Fish finds Strange, “You’re going to fix me.” He calls her his Eve, but he cannot. Strange really loves her.

Penguin brings an army of citizens to get Mooney. While they struggle with police, Jim sneaks in and promptly gets taken. He offers Fish a deal – Bullock for a way out. But she’s not leaving without Strange, which is perfectly fine with Jim. This is all Strange’s fault anyway. Of course, Jim double-crosses her by planting Penguin in her way. What results is a really sweet moment (that I’m not giving away).

Valerie Vale shows up at Jim’s place, having figured the whole thing out. “Who the hell are you Jim Gordon?” They kiss as the camera cuts to Lee (Morena Baccharin) getting off a train in Gotham.

Faux Bruce shows up at Wayne Manor – “Please don’t hurt me.”

Great, great, great episode! I love the different arcs. Faux Bruce showing up was totally unexpected. I thought for sure that he was going to replace Bruce and only Selina would figure it out. Maybe that will still happen, who knows? The Vale/Gordon hookup was expected, but I like it. I’m curious about the new Poison Ivy. I have visions of Uma Thurman and bad one-liners. I guess, we will see…
