Marvel The Defenders Netflix title

It has been two long years, but finally, the heroes of the Netflix and Marvel collaboration are finally getting together for The Defenders. Even if that means they have to fight amongst themselves to do it.

The first handful of images from the new series have finally arrived and it gives us our first look at the heroes Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Coulter), and Iron Fist (Finn Jones) together as well as the series’ first antagonist, the mysterious Alexandra, who will be played by Sigourney Weaver. Check out the new images below.

These new images come to us from Entertainment Weekly, who also provides some details as to what to expect from the ensemble series. Four of these photos are just our standalone heroes trying to look good for the camera, with each of them being color coordinated to each of the respective heroes. Another image is our first look at Alexandra, who is impeccably dressed but most likely planning something nefarious.

Here’s what Daredevil and Defenders showrunner Marco Ramirez had to say about the new character:

“Sigourney is the kind of person you can buy as the smartest person in the room, who you can also buy as a person holding a flamethrower. Her character is a very powerful force in New York City. She’s everything Sigourney is: sophisticated, intellectual, dangerous.

We knew it would take something massive to pull these four characters from their individual worlds to work together, but also small enough that it felt like it existed in our world.”

Of course, there is going to be some force that brings these heroes together, but no one said it was going to be easy. And this isn’t going to be a walk in the park for these guys.

Ramirez adds:

“Every one of them is following their own trail of bread crumbs, trying to unpack a mystery in New York. We wanted them all caught off guard. Once they’re in that room together, it’s kind of like, “˜Oh, s””, who are you?'”

Other images include Colleen Wing (Jessica Henwick) and Jones’ Danny Rand looking in shock as they stand in front of a helicopter. Another images teases Luke Cage as he walks in a prison, something that was hinted at towards the end of his respective series. In another, the no-nonsense Misty Knight (Simone Missick) is seen interrogating Jessica Jones. That will really be fun to watch, those two butting heads. And finally, we get a group shot of the four standing behind a truck with some very interesting Easter eggs. Check out what’s written at the top of the truck and the name attached to the mudflaps.

Netflix is expected to release The Defenders sometime this summer.
