Foreword by John Boyega

Release date: October 24, 2017

A long time ago in a galaxy far far away, some of the greatest and most unique characters in the history of motion pictures were created by George Lucas for Star Wars. Their names are part of Americana, engrained in zeitgeist forever. Luke, Vader, Han, Leia, Yoda, Boba Fett”¦ the list goes on and on. We met aliens from across the universe, droids of all shapes and sizes, and a giant lovable walking furball named Chewbacca. From May 1977 all the way till December 2015, there was one group of Star Wars characters that remained an interchangeable array of white body armor, bulky helmets, and blasters guaranteed to miss every time. They were the Stormtroopers. Now as you prepare for Star Wars: The Last Jedi this Winter, tide over the Star Wars superfan in your family with the ultimate behind the scenes guide to Star Wars forgotten masses with Star Wars Stormtroopers: Beyond the Armor, published by Harper Design.

The beautiful hardcover book is the perfect coffee table talking piece for movie lovers, filled with 170-plus pages of stories, bright-colored photos, and behind-the-scenes peeks at the films, storyboards, toys, cartoons, comics, and more. This was a labor of love for its authors. Ryder Windham and Adam Bray both spent their careers writing books about Lucas’s world. The introduction is given by the very first Stormtrooper to remove his helmet (not counting Luke in the original), FN 2187 aka Finn, John Boyega.

The Stormtroopers are wonderful characters in part because of the mystery behind them. Sure the prequels and other canon books and cartoons explored them more deeply, but nothing can prepare you for how in depth Beyond the Armor will take you, trailing the history of Vader’s army from how the armor is made to their weaponry, to the evolution of stormtrooper tech and look all the way to present day. The amazing collector’s book also comes with a enclosed memorabilia, including reproductions of the original Star Wars toy packages, cereal masks, early concept drawings, and more.

While the book came out in late October, it makes the perfect pre-Episode VIII holiday gift.

Foreword by John Boyega
Just in time for the next blockbuster, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, this unique and beautifully designed compendium with removable features traces one of the franchise’s most iconic characters””the stormtrooper””from initial development through all nine Star Wars movies to their many iterations in TV, comics, videogames, novels, and pop-culture.

Star Wars: A New Hope, the very first installment in the beloved science-fiction series, introduced the Imperial stormtroopers””the army of the fearsome and tyrannical Galactic Empire. Charged with establishing Imperial authority and suppressing resistance, these terrifying, faceless, well-disciplined soldiers in white have become a universal symbol of oppression.

Star Wars Stormtroopers explores these striking warriors and their evolution in depth for the first time. Ryder Windham and Adam Bray trace the roots of their creation and design, and explore how these elite troops from a galaxy far, far away have been depicted in movies, cartoons, comics, novels, and merchandizing.

Filled with photographs, illustrations, story boards, and other artwork, this lavish officially licensed book comes complete with removable features, including posters, stickers, replica memorabilia and more, making it an essential keepsake for every Star Wars fan, as well as military, design, and film aficionados.
