‘Avengers 4’ Will Have A Definitive Ending According To Kevin Feige

Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Stephen Strange In Avengers: Infinity War

To say that Avengers: Infinity War ended on an emotionally taxing cliffhanger would be the understatement of the year. It’s still going to be nine long months until we get to see another Marvel Cinematic Universe film, and even longer before we could see the next Avengers film.

That being said, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige says Avengers 4 will have a definitive ending. More on the story below.

Feige spoke to the Toronto Sun about what to expect from Avengers 4. Unlike the first Avengers and Age of Ultron, there is no next chapter or even a “to be continued.” The fourth Avengers film will end the story that has been built for 10 years and 21 films. Here’s what he had to say:

“But, storylines can come to an end. The best stories do come to an end. Return of the Jedi was an ending for a long time and as a 10-year-old in 1983 that carried me through 30 years until there was a sequel. That hasn’t happened before in the superhero genre. A new actor comes in and a new storyline starts right away. We wanted to do it this way because we think that the best stories have a definitive ending to a storyline. That’s certainly what’s going to happen next year with Avengers 4.”

As the saying goes, “all good things must come to an end.” And by the sound of things, Avengers 4 will be the end. It makes sense considering that most of the actor’s contracts expire after Avengers 4. But it is also a bit ominous for some of those characters that we’ve watched since 2008. What is going to become of them after? The Guardians of the Galaxy as well. We’ve known that their line-up will end after Vol. 3. But as the MCU expands, it’s only fair that we start to see changes to the team dynamics. And it’s safe to say the MCU won’t be the same after this.

It’s the only way the universe can grow. Plus, who knows what is going to happen when Disney gets full control of Fox’s Marvel properties. But worry not, Marvel has things planned out well in advance, and with new teams come new members. It should be exciting to see what Marvel has in store for us.

Avengers 4 opens in theaters on May 3, 2019. Click right here for more on the film.
