One of the original series being developer for Disney’s streaming service, called Disney+, will be titled The Vision and Scarlet Witch. And now that show has found someone to captain the ship.
It’s been announced that Jac Schaeffer has joined the project. She will handle showrunner and executive producer duties, and will also write at least the pilot episode.
Schaeffer wrote, directed, and produced 2009’s TiMER before eventually landing some big Disney jobs. It began with writing the screenplay for the Frozen holiday short Olaf’s Frozen Adventure, and continued with a pair of big Marvel titles: this year’s Captain Marvel and the upcoming Black Widow movie.
Schaeffer also worked on the screenplay for The Hustle, a remake of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels starring Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson which was previously titled Nasty Women.
As we found out back in September, many of the actors who have played characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe who are now getting shows on Disney+ are expected to return to play those characters again. That’s no different here. Both Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany are expected to return as Scarlet Witch and Vision.
Other series in development which have been confirmed are a Loki series starring Tom Hiddleston, and a Falcon and Winter Soldier series starring Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan.
While it is expected to be one of the first Disney+ series produced by Marvel Studios, no timetable for when we might see The Vision and Scarlet Witch has been announced yet.
