If you’ve seen one zombie movie, you’ve probably seen them all. The undead walking amongst the living and spreading the infection by chomping down on innocent victims. The rules of surviving this world have been well established throughout many zombie films.
But the latest from writer and director Jim Jarmusch (Broken Flowers, Only Lovers Left Alive), titled The Dead Don’t Die, portrays zombies in a different kind of light. One that will see Adam Driver leading “the greatest zombie cast ever disassembled.”
Focus Features has released an official trailer for the film, and you can check it out below along with a poster.
It only seems fitting that a comedy that pokes fun at a genre that has long been associated with horror be released yesterday on April Fools’ Day. While there is no plot synopsis to this, I think the trailer speaks for itself. It’s strange and wacky, and the characters, who clearly have no clue how to deal with the situation, are trying to survive the zombie apocalypse. Even the zombies themselves are different from the ones that we’ve seen before.
So it is a bit of a refreshing take on the zombie comedy. The trailer pretty much sells the film. And with the amount of crazy (and hilarious things) that are going on here, does the film even need a plot synopsis?
This is a stacked cast, as well. In addition to Driver, the film also stars Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton, Chloë Sevigny, Steve Buscemi, Danny Glover, Caleb Landry Jones, Rosie Perez, Iggy Pop, Sara Driver, RZA, Selena Gomez, Carol Kane, Austin Butler, Luka Sabbat, and Tom Waits.
Focus Features has scheduled The Dead Don’t Die for a June 14, 2019 release.
