Since New York Comic-Con has grown so big this year, some of the related events took place in the surrounding New York City area. After a near 2-hour wait on Saturday, I got into Hammerstein Ballroom, a concert venue three avenues away from the Jacob Javit’s Convention Center where thousands of Evil Dead and Bruce Campbell fans poured in to get their foam finger chainsaws and “Ash 4 President” buttons, and to relish in the moment. Having once waited four hours to meet Bruce Campbell at a horror convention, this was nothing too hard. Everyone was crazed and excited for one reason… ASH IS BACK! On Halloween night, Starz network is bringing director Sam Raimi‘s early ’80s horror classic franchise to the small screen with a new television series titled Ash vs Evil Dead. The panel featured all the important cast and crew, including director/EP Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell, Ray Santiago, Lucy Lawless (of Xena fame), Jill Marie Jones, Dana DeLorenzo, and showrunner Craig DiGregorio. The panel was hosted by Kevin Freaking Smith!!!

| NYCC 2015: Orlando Jones Spotlight Panel
At New York Comic-Con Saturday night in the Empire Room, Orlando Jones had the stage all to himself, but being the down-to-earth funnyman he is, joked it was too NYPD, and came down to take questions from the audience, up close and personal. Jones, who played Captain Frank Irving, on FOX’s Sleepy Hollow, answered questions on a wide range of subjects including future projects, his love for Lando, and 7-Up. Check out some of the Q&A, plus panel pics below.

Years after its cancellation, Firefly is still very much alive. To the delight of fans of the cult hit, New York Comic-Con held a Firefly Reunion panel on Saturday, October 10th. Believe it or not, it’s been 10 years since the release of the show’s companion film, Serenity. Stars Gina Torres, Nathan Fillion, and Jewel Staite were all scheduled to grace the stage for the Q&A, and all three arrived, with the addition of surprise guest Alan Tudyk! Although Tudyk needed to meet Amy Acker to work on ADR (additional dialogue recorded) for their show, Con Man, he was able to stay for the first 20 minutes of the panel. He thrilled the crowd early on by announcing that “everyone on the stage here is in this season of Con Man.” In fact, viewers can see both Torres and Staite on the show this Wednesday, October 14th.

Crowds rushed into the Main Stage room at New York Comic-Con on Saturday, filling up the auditorium for a chance to see David Duchovny (Fox Mulder), Mitch Pileggi (Walter Skinner), and show creator Chris Carter speak about the upcoming The X-Files mini-series revival. The panel’s moderator, Kumail Nanjiani (Silicon Valley), came onto the stage first and announced that the audience would be treated to “the first episode of season 10,” to an eruption of cheers. “Afterwards,” Nanjiani said, “I’m going to speak with some people involved with the show “” and my goal will be not to cry. But, before the episode airs, we have a special guest on the screen who’d like to say a word.” Gillian Anderson then appeared on the screen, telling the fans to enjoy the premiere.
