NYCC 2015 Screen Junkies panel

Screen Junkies has over 4.7 million subscribers on YouTube and they’re… just like us: regular guys who love movies, and love even more to sit around talking about them, complaining and mocking them as well. I had the opportunity watch their panel appearance at New York Comic-Con on Friday.

The biggest view-getters from their channel is the Honest Trailers feature, which debut on Tuesdays, and Movie Fights on Fridays. Honest Trailers consists of hilarious 4-6 minute videos where they mock the ins and outs of popular movies with phony trailers that may tell too much truth. Movie Fights features arguments based on random film questions like Indy/Han, DC/Marvel, etc.

NYCC 2015: Con Man panel

Alan Tudyk, Nathan Fillion, Seth Green, and Felicia Day, the stars of Con Man, made an appearance at a panel on Friday at New York Comic-Con to talk about the new web series.

Called an event 13 years in the making, Alan Tudyk (Firefly, I Robot) and Nathan Fillion (Castle, Firefly) developed the idea for Con Man in Tudyk’s kitchen. Later, we’d find during the panel that most of the ideas, sans two, were Tudyk’s. Their ideas were to have a show about actors and conventions, and the fans that worship them. The problem: no producers wanted it. Tudyk relayed later that many wanted to mock the fans and portray cosplayers as weirdos instead of devoted lovers of the art. Together they took to Indiegogo and through their devoted fans raised $3.2 million through 46,000 fan donations and did the show as a web series.

NYCC 2015 Cosplay

“You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy…”

This weekend the most diverse collection of individuals on our planet have gathered together in New York City at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center for this year’s New York Comic-Con. And a group of our contributing GoDs — (Athena, Danny, Sarah, Max, Eve, and me, Dave3, to be exact) — are here to provide coverage of all the goings-on of NYCC 2015.

Among my favorite things to do is walk the convention floor, checking out all the goodies, meeting artists, creators, exhibitors, fans, and cosplayers. And of course, taking pictures along the way. And I spent the majority of today doing exactly that: perusing the aisles of the convention floor, taking in the sites, the sounds, and the smells of the ever-growing yearly Geekdom collective.

Today’s highlights include a run-in with the Baseball Furies from The Warriors, Princess Sparklefist herself Captain Marvel, and the amazingly amusing webslinger amalgam, Spider-Met!

Anyhoo, hit the jump and check out my photo galleries from today.

Marvel’s popularity is at its height, as shown at New York Comic-Con 2015. On Friday, October 9th, Marvel’s Head of Television Jeph Loeb held a Marvel’s Agents of Primetime Panel to give fans updates for on both Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter. With fans already pumped about the event and the shows, they became even more excited when Clark Gregg appeared on stage. At that point, the crowd’s chants of “Carter! Carter!” changed to “Coulson! Coulson!”

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has hit the milestone of 50 episodes, and Loeb expressed his gratitude to the fans for this achievement.

NYCC 2015 Teen Wolf JR Bourne

Here’s what you need to know from the Teen Wolf Panel at NYCC:

MTV’s Teen Wolf panel on Friday, October 9th at New York Comic-Con 2015 was full of thrills and surprises. In addition to scheduled appearances by Tyler Posey, Dylan Sprayberry, Cody Christian, and executive producer Jeff Davis, there was a surprise guest: J.R. Bourne!

After the crowd went wild upon his entrance, a trailer for the next part of the season (5b) was shown. It was revealed in the promo that Bourne, who plays the beloved character of Chris Argent, will make his return to the show! Additional clips show Scott (Tyler Posey) and Stiles (Dylan O’Brien) in a physical altercation; Sheriff Stilinski (Linden Ashby) in the hospital; new love interests for Liam (Dylan Sprayberry) and Mason (Khylin Rhambo), and a focus on Lydia (Holland Roden) in Eichen House.
