After a year of hard work, our good friend and host of Slashfilm’s podcast The /Filmcast, David Chen, completed his work on his directorial debut, The Primary Instinct, a storytelling film starring Stephen Tobolowsky (as himself), in a compilation of Stephen’s live performances in Seattle. These stories have even been featured on Public Radio International. The film features Tobolowsky speaking to a sold-out audience and telling riveting and moving stories about life, love, and Hollywood. Along the way, he just may answer one of the questions that’s dogged humanity since the beginning of time: why do we tell stories in the first place? After launching a successful Kickstarter campaign, and having its world premiere at the Seattle International Film Festival, FilmBuff will now release The Primary Instinct later this fall. More on this story below.

Batkid Begins: The Wish Heard Around the World
Directed by Dana Nachman
Written by Dana Nachman and Kurt Kuenne
Starring: Miles Scott, Natalie and Nick Scott, Eric Johnston, and Mike Jutan
Running Time: 87 Minutes
KTF Films
Release Date: June 26, 2015 A few years ago, in mid-November, you may have found yourself locked into your favorite social media to witness a little wish come true as Make a Wish gave little Miles Scott his wish to be Batman for one day. They transformed parts of San Francisco into Gotham, and what started as a small project turned into something much, much bigger than anyone had expected. A few years later, thanks to Dana Nachman (Human Experiment) and Kurt Kuenne, we get a look into how that idea turned into something that affected everyone who saw or heard about it in the documentary Batkid Begins: The Wish Heard Around the World. I can say just thinking about seeing him the first time, the emotions begin to flow and the goosebumps and the teary eyes are soon to follow, which is sort of ironic considering the same could be said for another movie that Kurt Kuenne was involved with, Dear Zachary, a movie that will tug and pull at your emotions as well.

| Spotlight On Local: Against The Ordinary
Remember the ’80s heavy metal scene? The drunken debauchery? The sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll? When men dressed up like women, and women dressed up like the girl your mother warned you about? Well now, so many years later, the long hair has turned gray or perhaps fallen out completely, the girl your mother warned you about is, well, your mom, and even Gene Simmons proclaims that rock is dead while many reluctant rockers concede to agree. But maybe it’s just sleeping. Maybe it’s waiting for a really good band to come along and kick it in the ass… Against The Ordinary hail from Corona, CA. Though the members are just on the verge of saying goodbye to their teenage years, they manage to righteously pay homage to 45 years of rock ‘n’ roll. Continue below for more on the band and to see a video of them playing live.

If you’re anything like me, you are constantly on the look out for casual clothing that isn’t a mass-produced item that would be found in closets all across the country. I spend many mornings checking out different t-shirt sites for unique items that appeal to my nerdy passions. I’m also notorious for correcting grammar (friends, strangers, whomever is near…you get the picture). So when I was shown a site that mixes the two, you can imagine how entertained I was! Truthfully, I started giggling when reading a few. Having said all of that, it is my pleasure to introduce you to Hey, That’s Super, a very original, and quite funny, shop featuring tees and more!
