It’s been over two years since Walt Disney Studios announced that they would be releasing a live-action adaptation of their animated classic The Sword In The Stone with Game of Thrones writer/producer Brian Cogman hired to work on the screenplay. The original, which is an adaptation of the novel of the same name, was an animated musical comedy. Now the film has found a director in 28 Weeks Later director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo. | ‘Overboard’ Trailer: Anna Faris Uses Amnesia To Teach Eugenio Derbez A Lesson In Humality |

I never saw the original Overboard, but the romantic comedy centered on a wife named Joanna (Goldie Hawn) suffering from a case of amnesia after falling off her husband’s (Edward Herrmann) yacht. Using this as an opportunity to escape the bonds of marriage, the husband leaves his wife. but Dean (Kurt Russell), a widowed carpenter with four kids who once worked for Joanna, arrives and claims she’s his wife. So she ends up putting the rich life she once knew behind to live a blue collar life. All the fun and cheesy tropes of learning how to work a regular job fall into play and there are the occasional romantic gestures. So when it was announced that there would be a gender-twist remake starring Anna Faris as the one who takes advantage of a rich playboy’s (Eugenio Derbez) amnesia, you can probably expect more of the same conceits. Check out the full trailer below.

Disney is not going to stop with the live-action adaptations of their animated classics. With films like Dumbo, Aladdin, Mulan, and The Lion King currently in the works, the studio is continuing to go through their vault of award-winning animated films and pairing them with an almost perfect creative team. Case in point, The Little Mermaid, which will have new songs by Hamilton‘s Lin-Manuel Miranda and Alan Menken. We reported on the film when it first broke in August of last year, and now there are new reports saying that the live-action film is looking to land Rob Marshall as director.
