| ‘(500) Days Of Summer’ Director Marc Webb To Take Over ‘Spider-Man’ Franchise |

It didn’t take Sony Pictures long to find a new director to helm their recently decided reboot of the Spider-Man franchise. The studio has hired relatively unknown Marc Webb to take on the new high-profile, high-risk, high-reward project after the realization that we had seen the best we could have seen from the former cast and crew. The script is written by James Vanderbilt, who Sony had writing multiple sequels. Webb recently received critical praise for his work on the indie film (500) Days of Summer, which starred Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel. Aside from that movie, Webb has only really done a couple of music videos for Green Day and 3 Doors Down. This makes him a bold choice for director, and it puts him in a massive position that could very easily make or break his entire career. No pressure there. And speaking of Gordon-Levitt, he seems to be the majority fan-favorite for the role of Peter Parker. The hiring of Webb makes this prospect a lot more of a legitimate possibility. | New Poster, Synopsis & Red Band Trailer For Jude Law’s ‘Repo Man’ |

Not much has been said about the upcoming science fiction movie Repo Man so far, but all of that changes now with the massive Merry Christmas release of the official synopsis, a new poster and image, and best of all, a shiny new Red Band trailer for all of us big kids to enjoy. The movie sounds like it has a very cool concept in which Jude Law works as a Repo Man, though not the kind of repossession work that you and I are familiar with. See — in the future, a company has developed artificial organs that run a lot of cash, and when folks aren’t able to pay up, they send their best men out to reacquire the property…if you catch my drift. Of course, with a little twist of the plot, things will get very interesting between Law and his partner (Forest Whitaker). Repo Man also stars Liev Schrieber, RZA, Alice Braga, and Carice van Houten. It is directed by Miguel Sapochnik and will be released everywhere on April 2, 2010. Head on over to the other side to read the full synopsis and watch the NSFW trailer. Poster above and image below can both be enlarged with a click!

| Benicio Del Toro’s ‘The Wolfman’ Gets A Second Trailer |

If you haven’t seen anything from Joe Johnston‘s (Jumanji, Hidalgo) The Wolfman, then you are missing out big time. A remake of the classic monster movie from 1941, the movie looks like it keeps a lot of that old school charm while utilizing today’s technological advancements to bring some fantastic tones and realism to the party. Most second trailers have a nasty habit of using almost the entirety of their initial first trailer, with a few small new bits sprinkled in from time-to-time. This new Wolfman trailer is having none of that, they make sure that you get your money’s worth before you even have to pay for anything with a trailer composed of almost all new images and clips that we haven’t seen yet. Another thing the trailer does is use modern music to a period setting with some guitar melodies accompanying the old Victorian setting — always a cool little mix. Click over for a full, detailed new synopsis and to watch the trailer, which was released via Apple.

| Unexpected Cherry On Top: Disney Chairman Dick Cook Fired? ‘Pirates 4’ Doomed?! |

If you visit the site everyday (or any movie site, for that matter), you know that recently there was a massive shower of Disney-related news announced at their D23 Expo — most of which were revealed by Disney Chairman, Dick Cook. Most of the news was very exciting, including big news about a Muppet takeover, information on big Pixar sequels Toy Story 3 and Cars 2, and the official title for the fourth movie in their Pirates franchise: Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. After this Christmas morning of announcements, the last thing you would expect to top it all off would be bad news, but that’s just what we’ve been given. It’s being reported by Nikki Finke that after 38 years of service, and an impressively popular reputation, Chairman Dick Cook has now been fired by Disney President and CEO Bob Iger. There are reports that the two weren’t exactly seeing eye-to-eye, as well. It was initially reported that he had innocently just “stepped down” from his position, which Disney is standing by, even though Finke has multiple updates on her report that quote various Disney insiders who are saying that it was a firing, and not one that is being taken lightly. People that have worked with him are crushed by this news, and that it reminds them of when former Disney topper Michael Eisner fired Jeffrey Katzenberg. Even worse, they’re wondering who they could possibly replace him with, saying “I don’t know who Iger thinks he can find who’ll be able to come in there and already have relations with Spielberg, and Zemeckis, and Bruckheimer, and Lasseter, and Burton, like this guy had,” which is accompanied by rumors that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige “impressed the hell out of” Iger while the Marvel deal was being worked out…so take that as you will. Click over for more, including the possible fate of Pirates of the Caribbean straight from the mouth of Johnny Depp, and the official statements from both Cook and Iger.
