| Is Ridley Scott’s ‘Prometheus’ Still An ‘Alien’ Prequel After All?
It’s gotten to a point where we may just not have a clue what’s going on with director Ridley Scott‘s return to science fiction, Prometheus, until we see it with our own eyes…much like was the case with Scott’s take on Robin Hood, which saw many strange rumors and rumblings lead us all over the place during production. Because no one likes to be screwed around with when it comes to movie news — we all just want to know accurate details, not random rumors — we’ll try and ease it back on said rumors and keep it to only things that seem solid in regards to Prometheus from here on out. That said, those of you who have been closely following this movie’s progress should be interested in hearing this last bit of he said, she said.

| Keanu Reeves Confirms ‘The Matrix’ Sequels In Development |

A couple of years ago, I made a post discussing how a 4th Matrix film was inevitable. When the post was initially published, it was met with some skepticism from Matrix fans. How could there be another movie if Neo is dead? Is Neo actually dead? Keanu Reeves, in a guest of honor speech at the London School of Performing Arts University, has finally clarified that there are indeed plans for more Matrix films. It should come as no surprise that there are plans for a fourth and fifth Matrix movie. Besides the fact that combined with merchandising and home media sales the movies are money-makers, the development of the 3D filming tech adopted by James Cameron and the recent release of Tron: Legacy (sequel to a movie that was one of many influences on The Matrix) make it a prime time for the Wachowski Brothers to reignite their Matrix saga. In short, it’s good timing.

| Rumor For Your Thoughts: Will ‘Monsters Inc. 2’ Be A Prequel?
News has been pretty slow over the holidays, and while we wait for things to begin picking up again, there’s always those ever-so-fun rumors to ponder. Today there’s a rumor regarding another expected sequel in the magical world of Pixar Animation. As many of you know, Pixar was never big on any type of sequels not counting their Toy Story franchise. But with Toy Story 3 released this past summer and Cars 2 set for this upcoming summer, the popular studio is clearly taking time to expand upon some of their fantastic existing worlds instead of delivering more original content. Other expected sequels from Pixar are Monsters Inc. 2 and The Incredibles (which seemed like the most likely to get a second film from the start), but it’s the former that’s on the rumor menu on this day.

| Marilyn Manson To Guest On ‘Eastbound & Down’? Hey, If Betty White Can Do It…
Eastbound & Down is one of the funniest shows on TV. What started as a six-episode one-and-done first season, is now preparing to premiere their second season due to popular demand. One of the fans of the show happens to be shock-rocker Marilyn Manson…and he wants to make a cameo. Manson told MTV at the season 2 premiere that he has an itch to step into the shoes of Stevie, the wildly obsessive assistant to Kenny Powers (Danny McBride). While the role of Stevie is already filled by actor Steve Little, show writer/director Jody Hill was honored by the support and interest of Manson, and was quoted saying “I’d love that. He can play Stevie’s brother.” Hill continued “Honestly, I’m honored. I saw Marilyn Manson open up for Nine Inch Nails when I was in high school in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, so the fact that he’s heard of the Kenny Powers series is pretty awesome.”

| Tom Cruise & James McAvoy Wanted For ‘At The Mountains Of Madness,’ But Which Does Guillermo Del Toro Prefer? |

If you follow movie news, you’re aware that last month we found out that Guillermo del Toro would be directing his dream project next, a massive big-budget adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft‘s At the Mountains of Madness with James Cameron helping out as a producer. This was some of the more exciting news we’ve heard in recent memory, but now begins the not-so-exciting aspect to the project: the casting rumors. When del Toro was attached to direct The Hobbit, the constants in related news were either delays due to MGM’s ongoing struggles (which ultimately led to del Toro stepping away from the movies), and of course the never-ending rumors of who might play Bilbo Baggins. Now the casting frenzy has begun with At the Mountains of Madness, and we have our first two potential lead-role names. The good news here is that these actors are not randomly generated rumors, but more the leading names on the studio and director’s wish list. The bad news is that the studio and director seem to have a difference in opinion. Universal is the studio backing the risky project, and sources close to the action claim that they want James McAvoy to star. On the other hand, Mr. del Toro has more of a liking for a one Tom Cruise to lead the charge.
