Is Jason Voorhees In Snow For New ‘Friday The 13th’ Sequel Better Than Jason In Space?
This past February, the Marcus Nispel-directed Friday the 13th reboot was released to mixed criticism and mediocre box office numbers. Though these are never good things and a sequel has not yet been approved, fans of Jason Voorhees still hope for more movies and the franchise’s producers are preparing for one. Thankfully, it can’t hurt to have one of the wealthiest directors in the world in Michael Bay as one of your producers.
While on the set of the new A Nightmare on Elm Street reboot (both Friday and Nightmare are produced by Platinum Dunes), Shock ‘Til Ya Drop spoke to producer Brad Fuller who shared where the potential sequel stands. From the sound of it, there is no script and there’s not even a guarantee that the sequel will ever happen, but they do have a solid plan that they’re working with writers Damion Shannon and Mark Swift to figure out where they want to go. Here is what Mr. Fuller had to say about the prospective second feature in the new Friday the 13th franchise: If we’re going to do another Friday the 13th we want to present something audiences haven’t seen before and one of the things they haven’t seen before is Jason in the snow. We just want to bring things they haven’t seen before [though] the [entire] movie will not be set in the snow.

Neil Marshall Close To Signing On For ‘Predators’?

Bloody-Disgusting has it on very good authority that a one Neil Marshall is close to signing on to direct Predators, another new horror reboot being produced by Robert Rodriguez and his Troublemaker Studios (Read: Robert Rodriguez To Direct “˜Predator’ Reboot; Confirms Himself For “˜Sin City 2″²). The movie is expected to be similar to the original Predator starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, but with some changes and what’s certain to be a whole new look. One big change is that it appears that many Predators will be in the film instead of just one based on the brief description: “”¦a team of commandos face down a mysterious race of vicious monsters.” Neil Marshall is best known for his cave-dwelling horror The Descent and the post-apocalyptic Doomsday. Fittingly, the main concern with this reboot will be how much CGI is going to be used — if The Descent is any basis for comparison, then fans will be happy to know that Marshall can put together some creepy beasties without all that cheap computer animation. No CGI in this reboot would be its possible saving grace…that, of course, and the faithful R-rating that is essential to Predator movies. Thankfully, if this rumor comes true, there’s a strong chance for both of these elements being handled properly and that we may have a fun little reboot on-hand.

Once Again, The Choices That Might Ignite The Glorious Return Of ‘Firefly’

A lot of people are just flat sick of hearing about fanboy-favorite Firefly and its seemingly impossible resurrection. Even I, someone who very much loves and misses the show, sometimes hates reading rumors about the show or how it may one day return to us. None-the-less, every once in a while, you just need to buckle down and revisit the topic and where it may currently stand in this completely unfair and tragic hell that Firefly has been prisoner to for many years now. TV By The Numbers has a great piece from The Nick C Blog on some of the options that exist for just such a thing to happen, as well as whether Joss Whedon‘s Dollhouse getting a second season helps Firefly out. The most intriguing part of this article, is that the man who wrote it has apparently had plenty of contact with Fox and its people. The main question posed to them is as it always has been: is there any way that Fox would actually do what we hope and pray–yet highly-doubt would ever happen and bring back Firefly? Surprisingly, the answer seems to be “yes,” if it were under the proper circumstances. As they stress in this story, all of the stars of the show are quite busy with their own shows right now, and all of those shows seem to be fairly popular to boot, so the chances of the right circumstances to renew the series coming along are highly-unlikely. So where does this leave us? Well, right back where we’ve been: movies.

| Is Bryan Singer Itching To Do More ‘X-Men’ Adventures?
While there’s no real news here, the thought of something happening is sometimes pretty exciting. One of the more smile-inducing things that would get fans going, would be Bryan Singer returning to attempt to save the X-Men franchise — a franchise which has been demolished since his wonderful X-2 with movies like X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men Origins: Wolverine. In an interview with Total Film, Singer was asked about the world of X-Men — how he’s seen it since leaving, and if he would like to return to it some day. Here’s what Singer had to say: I’m eternally intertwined with X-Men now. What takes an audience four hours to watch – the first two movies – took six years of my life. So, to not be part of it”¦.It’s a shame. It’s weird for me to watch [The Last Stand] because I’m so close to the universe. And also Brett is a good friend of mine. But, of course, I would love to return to that universe.

‘Alien’ Prequel Actually On The Way Without Ridley Scott As Director?

Little tiny whispers of a possible and proper return to the world of Alien have breezed past us lately. First there was Sigourney Weaver admitting that her and director Ridley Scott had discussed it, but the disasters that were the Alien vs. Predator movies had basically ruined all hope. Then it was revealed that the idea was being tossed around by the studio and that Ridley Scott was thinking of possible paths the story could go. That story and the link to the Sigourney Weaver piece can be found at the following link (Read: Will Ridley Scott Make A New ‘Alien’ Movie?). Now comes word from Bloody-Disgusting and their source (the same one who first shared word of the Robert Rodriguez Predator reboot) that this new Alien project is indeed looking to happen. The word is, Ridley Scott will not direct, but he, his brother Tony Scott, and Michael Costigan will act as producers on the Scott Free Productions project. Even more, supposedly they’re looking at a man named Carl Rinsch to direct the movie. Rinsch is an unknown, but he’s done plenty of work for Scott Free, as well as some impressive work with commercials and music.
