| Disney In Depth: Reviewing Disney Fantasy’s Musical Productions
As the Disney Fantasy nears closer to celebrating four years on the open seas, and I recently returned from setting sail on my third voyage on the magnificent vessel, I wanted to place focus on its five main musical productions in the Walt Disney Theatre. Two of the three featured musicals are exclusive to the Disney Fantasy, two honor the arrival and departure of guests, and the other is appropriately named Believe. Reviewing these five shows required having seen each of them multiple times and evaluating them in comparison to not only one another on the Disney Fantasy, but also those on Disney Cruise Line’s other ships and within the domestic theme parks. Let’s dive right in!

| David Fincher Collaborating With Trent Reznor On ‘Fight Club’ Rock Opera |
By BAADASSSSS!

The first rule of Fight Club is…you do not talk about Fight Club. The second rule of Fight Club is…you do not talk about Fight Club. But singing about Fight Club? That’s cool. Believe it or not, True Believers, David Fincher‘s hypnotically brutal and satirical cult classic of Gen X masculinity gone horribly – and hilariously – wrong is looking to become the latest cinematic masterpiece to invade the Great White Way. Fincher and Nine Inch Nails front-man (and one half of the composing team on his last three films – The Social Network, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and Gone Girl) Trent Reznor are working on a Broadway rock opera adaptation of the filmmaker’s excoriated, and later celebrated, 1999 release Fight Club.

| ‘The Lion King’ and ‘Aladdin’ Broadway Casts Get Stuck At Airport, Have Sing-Off (Video) |

No one ever wants to find out that their flight has been delayed, forcing them to figure out different ways to keep their quickly numbing brain occupied until things get back on schedule. So here’s a slice of fried gold life tip for all of you: if you’re going to end up getting stuck at an airport, make sure that Broadway performers are stuck at said airport with you! The casts of both The Lion King and Aladdin Broadway shows were traveling from New York to Orlando when their flight was delayed. Instead of sitting around playing Sudoku or whatever it is kids do to keep themselves busy these days, they used their talents to lighten the mood in the terminal. Just one Broadway cast singing their songs would be a pleasant surprise for anyone else stuck in an airport (aside from those without souls, of course), but when two casts from different productions are present? It can mean only one thing: a sing-off! It begins with the Lion King cast singing one of the many familiar songs associated with their production. Instead of countering with another classic tune, the Aladdin crew, led by Tony Award-winning Genie actor James Monroe Iglehart (whose tribute to Genie counterpart Robin Williams can be watched right here), went full rap battle in playful riposte. And it continued from there. You can check out the video of the two sides trading lyrical blows below.

A Kenneth Branagh (Hamlet, Cinderella) and Martin Scorsese (The Wolf of Wall Street, Casino) collaboration has been in the works for some time. If the collaboration were to happen, Scorsese would be bringing Branagh’s stage adaptation of William Shakespeare‘s MacBeth to the big screen. But given both filmmakers’ busy schedules, the film would not likely go into production for some time, at least not any time soon. Now a new interview reveals that there is “some” progress being made, and the two are nearly closing the deal to get the film made. Hit the jump for more.

The international press tour for Into The Woods is currently in progress, and with the film being a commercial success, journalists are asking producer Marc Platt about his next projects. One of those projects is a big-screen adaptation of Wicked, which has Stephen Daldry attached to direct and Winnie Holzman penning the script. The musical is actually based on the book of the same name, and focuses on the events before The Wizard of Oz, before Elphaba became the Wicked Witch of the West. Platt hopes to get the film into theaters by 2016, which would mean that he would need to get the project into production sooner rather than later. More after the jump.
