Play Fair-19

If you and your children felt overwhelmed at New York City Comic Con last month, then I recommend saving early November for Play Fair NY. This past weekend Play Fair NY took over the Jacob Javits Center in midtown Manhattan, and gave kids of all ages a reason to be very excited about the upcoming holiday season. Play Fair NY featured interactive toy and game areas, celebrity and character meet and greets, a 13,000 pound vat of slime, a Minecraft VR learning lab, and a chance to see all the toys nominated for 2017 Toy of the Year. The best compliment I can pay Play Fair NY though, is as a parent. Both my 13-year old son and 6-year old daughter did not want to leave and they were actively playing and engaging their minds and imaginations, rather than glued to a screen.

Perfect Stranger Things

A new season of Stranger Things arrived a couple of weeks back now, so it’s prime time for some new mash-ups. We’ve seen mash-ups with Charlie Brown and Childish Gambino, as well as fellow Netflix titles Trollhunters and Mystery Science Theater 3000 in the past. Today we have a pair of new mash-ups to share with you.

The first comes from Jimmy Kimmel Live, who brilliantly decided to mash-up Stranger Things with ’80s and ’90s TV sitcom Perfect Strangers—and even got stars Bronson Pinchot and Mark Linn-Baker to reprise their roles—in “Perfect Stranger Things.” The second is a mash-up with the Toy Story franchise dubbed “Stranger Things Are Happening To Me,” a play on the Randy Newman song from the first movie.

Click on over to the other side to give them a watch.

Trollhunters Tales of Arcadia

Netflix has released a trailer for season two of the animated series Trollhunters, which is presented by Pan’s Labyrinth and The Shape of Water director Guillermo del Toro and DreamWorks Animation.

But it’s not your basic TV show second season. Things are getting shaken up in the Trollhunters universe. It’s been announced that the new season will actually be the start of a new trilogy titled Tales of Arcadia. The trilogy will continue with 3 Below, which introduces aliens as two teenagers from another planet end up here on Earth and must try to blend in as they figure out how to repair their ship. Finally, Wizards will close the trilogy and bring the three stories together.

Below you can find the trailer and a clip from Trollhunters Part 2, as well as quotes from del Toro.

Release Date: November 7, 2017

I couldn’t help but want to share this little bit of news with you folks! When Dark Horse Books dropped this into my inbox, it seemed like fate as I had just re-read Chuck Palahniuk‘s Invisible Monsters this past weekend. As fortuitous as it seems, Legacy: An Off-Color Novella For You To Color has apparently nothing to do with other Palahniuk novels. In fact, it’s more about telling a tale with audience participation!
