Rated PG-13 | Minutes: 122
Release Date: July 24, 2019 Ever since James Cameron put all of his attention on the Avatar franchise, Alita: Battle Angel had been sitting on the back burner for as long as I could remember. Luckily, that all changed when he handed directing responsibilities over to Robert Rodriguez, who seemed to have the right sensibilities in order to bring the manga character to the big screen in a way that would honor the source material and their fans. While the film was met with mixed reviews, most would say that the adaptation captured Alita and the futuristic world around her well. All those textures, the attention to detail, and the motion-capture work all speak to Cameron’s need to bring those characters and said world to audiences, and eliciting a wide-eyed and jaw-dropping reaction. Though the predictable narrative itself couldn’t support Alita: Battle Angel, the titular character’s journey of self-discovery is something worth watching. Check out my review of the film, plus some of the bonus feature that will be available, below.

| Disney To Stop 20th Century Fox Film Development and Focus More On Key Franchise Acquisitions
When Disney acquired 20th Century Fox earlier this year, it really changed the entertainment climate. The Mouse House has become a giant media conglomerate. They own various studios, TV networks, and will soon be launching a streaming service. However, there appears to be somewhat of a downside to all of this, at least when you look at it from a stockholder’s point of view. Disney chief financial officer Christine McCarthy revealed Fox films were at an operating loss of $170 million for the quarter. With these films performing lower than expected, it is forcing Disney to stop production for various 20th Century Fox titles and redirect their focus to key franchises like the newly acquired Marvel properties and Avatar. More on the report below.

| ‘The King’s Man’ Trailer: All The King’s Men Put A Spy Agency Together Again
The first two Kingsman films introduced the film world to a higher class of spying. Based on the Mark Millar comics of the same name, the franchise is a fun take on the genre that had grown too dark and gritty in recent years. But all agencies have a beginning, and that is no different with the Kingsman. So before all the tailored clothes, fashionable high tech gadgetry, and the manners, there was The King’s Man. This prequel is set nearly a century before the events of Kingsman: The Secret Service and Kingsman: The Golden Circle, and it stars Ralph Fiennes as a World War I soldier who helps launch the new agency. Check out the trailer here below.

Taika Waititi has made a name for himself directing a small handful of indie movies like What We Do in the Shadows and Hunt for the Wilderpeople. Since then, he’s become one of the most sought out talents. Not only did he direct Thor: Ragnarok, which is easily the best Thor film of the three, but he will be directing Jojo Rabbit, a dark historical satire about a how a young boy in Hitler’s army’s life is turned upside down when he discovers that his mother is hiding a Jewish girl from the Nazis. Waititi will be playing Hitler. He’ll also be one of the voices in Disney+’s The Mandalorian. But now Waititi will be working on a new project.
