Would You Prefer Kick-Ass Or Chekov For Spider-Man?

Marvel movies certainly have been big news lately. With all the hub bub around the Captain America, Avengers, and Thor movies, you might forget there’s a reboot of the Spider-Man series coming out in 2012. You may recall Percy Jackson star Logan Lerman was the early rumor but since then a number of Hollywood’s freshest young faces have been linked to the role of Peter Parker.

As we previously reported, Kick-Ass star Aaron Johnson was recently spotted on the set of director Matthew Vaughn’s X-Men: First Class, but the latest internet rumor has him up for Sony’s Spider-Man reboot.

Johnson joins the already robust list of actors up for the part including Jamie Bell, Frank Dillane, Alden Ehrenreich, Andrew Garfield and Josh Hutcherson.

Also new to the list is Anton Yelchin, the 21-year-old who made a big impact in last year’s Star Trek and Termination Salvation.

Spoiler Talk: Kick-Ass

Kick AssI may not be able to make comic book movies, but I can kick your ass. I am a big comic book fan and read Kick-Ass a while back and really enjoyed it. That being said I was extremely nervous and excited about seeing this movie’s translation from comic book to movie. Well the time finally arrived for me and I got to see another one of my favorite comics on the big screen.

Now that I have seen the movie I have to say I really enjoyed it overall. One thing that stands true for most adaptations to film is that not everything translates perfectly from print to the big screen. As seen with Wanted a couple years ago this is nowhere near a straight translation from print to screen. The movie started production when only four issues of the comic had been written.

There will be people upset by the changes but overall they make sense for a big screen version of the story. I really hope people come into the movie with an open mind. I am sure that anybody with a chip on their shoulder from Wanted will probably not enjoy the movie as much as it should be enjoyed.

Well enough small talk let’s kick ass and start up a little SPOILER TALK about one of the most action-packed movie of the year so far.

Below are my spoiler filled thoughts on the movie Kick Ass. Don’t forget to add your spoiler filled thoughts at the end of the post in the comments section.

Kick-Ass movie posterKick-Ass
Directed by Matthew Vaughn
Starring Aaron Johnson, Chloë Grace Moretz, Nicolas Cage, Mark Strong, Christopher Mintz-Plasse
Rated R
Release date: April 16, 2010

I’m in love. My heart has been stolen and I may never get it back. I think you’d really like her. She’s cute, she’s into violence, she swears like a sailor, she can name ever John Woo film ever made, she’s into guns and heavy weaponry, she likes bowling and she’s 12 years old. Her name is Hit-Girl (or Mindy Macready if you’re not into secret identities) and when she’s on the screen she absolutely steals the show. Chloë Grace Moretz is amazing in the role and I’m now actually looking forward to seeing her in the upcoming American remake of the Swedish vampire film Let The Right One In (Let Me In). Think of her this way, she’s like John Rambo meets Polly Pocket and she’s involved in some of the best action scenes I’ve witnessed in the past decade. She was my favorite character from the comic book which the film is based on and she did not disappoint one iota in the film.

My history with this franchise goes back a bit. I’ve been looking forward to the film adaptation ever since I got my hands on the first issue of the Mark Millar/John Romita Jr. comic book of the same name way back in February of 2008. Reading the comic was like a breath of fresh air in the now stale and stagnant world of superhero comics. I’m proud to say the movie is equally refreshing to the world of superhero movies.

Full ‘Kick-Ass’ Green Band Trailer Allows All Ages To See How Awesome It Looks

Kick-Ass Banner

A brand new trailer for Matthew Vaughn‘s Kick-Ass has been released, and it is of the Green Band variety. For those who don’t know: Green Band trailers are the safe-for-all-audiences trailers that you usually see in theaters. We have seen a teaser trailer that was fine for all to see and we’ve seen the graphic Red Band trailer that showcased the film’s R-rated content, and now comes the full-length trailer that kids of all ages (who won’t be able to see the movie when it comes out) can watch as many times as they wish!

While it’s the mercilessly graphic content of the adult-aimed trailer that really gets me giggly-giddy for how insanely fun this movie is going to be, this new trailer is probably the best to watch if you’re not familiar with the movie. It’s the best one yet when it comes to setting the film up and showing off its characters and just giving you an overall feel of what to expect — most likely so you can go in and get shocked by all of the stuff you didn’t expect.

Continue on reading to check out the new trailer and read the film’s synopsis if you have not already done so.

Kick-Ass Hit-Girl Poster

Ever since we first heard that Layer Cake and Stardust director Matthew Vaughn was raising $75 Million himself in order to make a movie based on Mark Millar‘s graphic novel Kick-Ass, our intrigue has been naturally high. Ever since we heard that one of the main reasons that Vaughn couldn’t get the studio backing for the movie was due to its ultra-violent content — most-notably due to the ultra-violence caused by an 11-year-old kid named Hit-Girl who dismembers with swords and ends lives with guns — we were all very, very much sold. C’mon peoples — we know these things are bad in the context of real life; that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the hell out of it in a fictional comic book movie!

Flash forward to present day: we’ve seen many images, we’ve seen an awesome trailer, and now, we finally get to see the RED BAND trailer courtesy of IGN. And of course we all know what this means: the trailer focuses solely on Hit-Girl and why there was oh-so-much controversy about this little girl to begin with.

This is the kind of trailer that will either sell or sever the interest of movie-goers. Kick-Ass is not meant for everyone, and if this offends you, then you’ll be wanting to avoid hitting the theater when this one storms in. Most who will see the movie are probably already planning on seeing it, but if not, this is the kind of awesomeness that can push thee over the edge.

Clickety-click on on over to check out the Red Band trailer yourself, but be warned, this is clearly NSFW material!
