| Oscar Producers Explain Why Farrah Fawcett Was Missing From Memoriam
There were quite a few strange and questionable moments during this past Sunday’s Academy Awards ceremony. Between some head-scratching winners to an angry George Clooney mystery, from random Kanye West ambushes, to the shocking and inexcusable exclusion of Farrah Fawcett from the In Memoriam section of the program, there was more than enough to talk about at the water cooler the next day. It didn’t take long for the story behind that random ambush to come out, but why exactly was Fawcett forgotten? Well, the Academy has now attempted to explain their decision (yes, it was a decision), and folks might just be even more enraged knowing why than they were when it was just a question mark. Continue reading to hear the explanation for yourself.

| Oscar Night’s ‘Kanye Moment’ Has An Explanation & A Story |
 |

Last night at the Academy Awards, there was a strange moment that had people talking. It happened during the acceptance of the award for Best Documentary (Short Subject), which was won by the film Music by Prudence. When the film won, director Roger Ross Williams came up to the stage to accept and make his speech. Out of nowhere, a woman came in took over the microphone as if no one was even there and began her own acceptance speech as Williams looked on stunned. This is of course being referred to as the “Kanye moment” after Kanye West infamously pulled the same stunt on Taylor Swift. It was so strange to see and until now, none of us had any idea of what happened side for the assumptions that maybe she had a Zoolander moment and thought another movie won. The woman, as it turns out, was Elinor Burkett, who was also noted as one of the producers of the film. Burkett used to write for Salon, who was able to talk to both parties and uncover exactly what had happened to cause the situation. You can head over to the link to read mini interviews with both of them, but here is the basic explanation from both of them. Click on over to read what they had to say and to see the video!

One of the big draws to tonight’s 82nd Academy Awards ceremony was the fact that a brand new trailer for Jon Favreau‘s mega-sequel, Iron Man 2, would be debuting after the broadcast on Jimmy Kimmel Live‘s annual Oscar special. | Geek Discussion: 82nd Annual Academy Award Winners & Losers!
As always, we like to have the results of the big awards ceremonies here for all to see, and tonight was the biggest of them all: the 82nd annual Academy Awards. This, the king of all awards shows, has faced much criticism the last few years, and their nominations this year did not help bring validity to their cause. Many of the films and actors were very deserving of their nominations, but many others were passed over in lieu of some big box office successes of questionable overall quality. And though they made a valiant effort to increase the excitement of the show with 10 Best Picture nominations, the end result was frustrating to we the film lovers of the world? In the end, some fantastic films and performances were justly awarded, and as always, there were a few that rubbed the wrong way. Continue on over to the other side to see all of the final results!

| TV Network Drama Gotcha Down? Watch The Oscars Online With Us! |
 |

For those who have not heard, there is some craziness going on between Cablevision and ABC in New York. A failure to reach an agreement has lead to the pulling of tonight’s airing of the 82nd Academy Awards, leaving many customers infuriated and nowhere to watch. Apparently they are working hard to reach an agreement, and it would be surprising if someone didn’t compromise to get this done somehow before the Oscars air, but there are options in a worst-case-scenario situation! For those of you currently in the midst of this ridiculous network elementary school whine-fest, such as our leaders, Empress Eve and Dave3, you can now watch the LIVE Oscars telecast free and streaming thanks to the kind people at AP. [UPDATED – AP didn’t start their streaming for some reason; we’ve updated the embed with one from Ustream.] At the moment, you can watch the red carpet stuff going on, and it all should zip right into the ceremony when the action begins. Walk your own carpet (of whichever color you wish) on over to the other side to watch the live stream right now. And many thanks to AP for stepping up while these massive companies run by toddlers throw Legos at each other.
