| ‘Transformers 5’ Targets 2017 Release
Despite Transformers: Age of Extinction being one of the lowest grossing of all the live-action Transformer films, the franchise will be getting a fifth installment. Recent news of the franchise forming a story trust to expand for possible crossovers (though not one with G.I. Joe) would allow for endless – yet possibly mindless action-filled possibilities. We’re not really sure what to make of Transformers 5, due to the fact that development on the film has been inactive. Now we are getting word that Hasbro is eyeing Transformers 5 for a 2017 release.

| Paramount Planning For Marvel-Style Transformers Universe With Sequels, Spinoffs
Disney has Marvel and Star Wars, Warner Bros has DC and LEGO, and Sony has Ghostbusters and possibly Spider-Man. So it was only a matter of time before Paramount gets into the game by building a cinematic universe around their franchises, and they will start off with one of their more lucrative franchises: Transformers. | Warner Brothers To Reboot ‘I Am Legend’
A sequel to the 2007 last man on Earth movie I Am Legend starring Will Smith was in the works for a while, but never was able to find its legs. Warner Brothers isn’t ready to let that stop them from making more movies in the franchise, however. So instead of a sequel with Smith, they’ve decided to try rebooting the property entirely. The story of how the reboot came to be is an interesting one at least. Warner Bros. acquired the rights to a spec script written by Gary Graham, an Apple store employee at the time who submitted his work on the Black List website, catching the attention of Creative Artists Agency, who then signed him. They sent out his script, it attracted plenty of attention, and the bidding war was on with WB coming out on top.

| The 10 Best Unproduced Comic Book Movie Scripts #2: ‘Asylum: Batman Vs. Superman’
Greetings, true believers. BAADASSSSS! has returned with the second long-awaited edition of The 10 Best Unproduced Comic Book Movie Scripts. If you haven’t checked out my bloated, unwieldy nerdgasm of an introduction to the series as well as a complete week-by-week breakdown of clues to each entry on this list you may do so here. For this sophomore entry in my little venture through territory well-traveled and much more elegantly chronicled I have chosen a script that is bound to elicit its fair share of dissenting opinions. I am prepared for this. I have also read this particular script and highly believe that, while it may not have not been close to perfection – a trait it shares with every entry on this list – it certainly held great potential. Asylum: Batman Vs. Superman by Andrew Kevin Walker

| Ron Howard Finds New Home For Stephen King’s ‘The Dark Tower’
It was one of the most ambitious plans ever concocted within the realms of entertainment: a trilogy of movies surrounding two seasons of a TV show, all based on author Stephen King‘s popular book series, The Dark Tower. The project had Ron Howard set to direct and Akiva Goldsman set to write the first movie and first season of the show—which would fill in story details and bridge the first two movies—and Oscar winner Javier Bardem attached to star in all three movies and the first season of the TV show (the second season being a prequel that would require a younger actor). Then it all came to a screeching halt when Universal decided they didn’t want to commit to the tremendous project. Now it looks like a brand new home has been found, but will it be the massive adaptation it once was, or will it be trimmed down?
