| ‘War For The Planet Of The Apes’ Trailer Gets Into Winter Spirit
We’d better start appreciating the Planet of the Apes films, because all good things come to an end. And if the franchise keeps going in the direction it’s in, then I don’t want another reboot to happen. The first trailer for War for the Planet of the Apes has finally arrived, and it does more than just tease the inevitable war between man and ape, it brings us straight to the battlefront. | Blu-ray Review: Star Wars: The Force Awakens 3D Collector’s Edition |

Star Wars: The Force Awakens
3D Collector’s Edition Blu-ray
Writer: Lawrence Kasdan & J.J. Abrams and Michael Arndt
Director: J.J. Abrams
Cast: Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Lupita Nyong’o, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, Max von Sydow, Gwendoline Christie
Studio: Walt Disney Pictures
Release Date: November 15, 2016 Star Wars: The Force Awakens was one of my favorite movies of 2015, and is a film I’ve written a lot about here — bottom line, I love it! Does it have its flaws? Sure, but nothing that I feel hampers the enjoyment of watching it. While there are those who feel it’s a retread of the original trilogy, I believe that it’s a worthy addition to the Star Wars universe. The film was released in Blu-ray back in April and included a host of bonus features that delved into the making of the sequel. But, sadly, it didn’t include feature-length audio commentary, which is an extra I love on home video releases, especially for an extravaganza like this. Now, Disney has released The Force Awakens as a 3D Blu-ray Collector’s Edition that does include commentary from J.J. Abrams, which to me makes this set worth getting. It also includes the original bonus features, along with several all-new featurettes. So, if you don’t already own this, definitely grab this collector’s edition.

| ‘War For The Planet Of The Apes’ NYCC Teaser: Caesar Gets Into A Different Kind Of Cold War
It goes without saying that studios who attend major Comic-Cons will be there with some footage of their upcoming tentpole films. While the San Diego Comic-Con is in a league of its own, the New York Comic-Con isn’t one to be overlooked. In the past few years, it has been making a name for itself, and with Lionsgate announcing that they will be presenting footage from John Wick: Chapter 2 and Power Rangers, it looks like audiences are in for some more geek goodness. 20th Century Fox is the latest studio to announce that they will be having a panel for their upcoming films as well. Now, they have unveiled the first look at War for the Planet of the Apes by releasing a teaser trailer at NYCC today. Check out the teaser here below.

| Andy Serkis Explains Why ‘Jungle Book: Origins’ Will Be “Darker” and For “An Older Audience” |
 |

Disney’s live-action adaptation of The Jungle Book set the bar pretty high not only for future adaptations of Rudyard Kipling‘s novel of the same name but also for filmmakers who will use the same stunning crystal clear visual technology that had audiences awestruck. So there are a lot of eyes on Andy Serkis‘s Jungle Book: Origins, which uses pretty much the same-level star power and will employ a higher-level of visual effects given that Serkis is the one who is behind the camera. Warner Bros. recently decided to push the release date for the film. While that may have been a worry for some, the director says the new date would help him with perfecting the visuals for this very ambitious project, which he says will be “breaking new ground with realistic non-humanoid animal faces” and “convincingly communicate with human language and emotion via performance capture, and are able to stand up to real scrutiny in richly complex dramatic scenes.” Now he is also talking about the film’s tone, which he says will be “dark” and explore a few different themes that Disney’s film didn’t. More on the story below.

| ‘Black Panther’: Michael B. Jordan Reunites With Ryan Coogler For Marvel Film
Just one day after it was revealed that Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years a Slave) was in talks for a major (yet unspecified) supporting role in Black Panther, we have word that the hotly-anticipated Marvel Studios production is preparing to add another high-profile performer to the cast. According to Borys Kit at the Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog, Panther director Ryan Coogler will be reuniting with his Fruitvale Station/Creed star Michael B. Jordan for the Marvel superhero adventure that has been in development for several years now and was announced as part of the studio’s Phase Three release slate back in October 2014.
