| Netflix Picks Up Brad Pitt’s ‘War Machine’
Yes, you read that correctly. No, it’s not the War Machine that you are probably thinking of. This is Brad Pitt‘s War Machine, a satrical comedy from David Michôd (Animal Kingdom). Based on the nonfiction bestseller The Operators: The Wild and Terrifying Inside Story of America’s War in Afghanistan, by late journalist Michael Hastings, Pitt will play a four-star military general who is modeled after Stanley McChrystal. | ‘World War Z’ Sequel To Start With A “Clean Slate”
Mounting production problems surrounding World War Z didn’t stop the Brad Pitt-starring film from being one of the biggest surprises of 2013. Of course when you beat expectations by grossing $540 million worldwide, a sequel would obviously be under consideration. Paramount would fast track a World War Z sequel by getting Steven Knight, the writer and director of Locke, to write a draft for the film. | Adam McKay’s ‘The Big Short’ Nabs Brad Pitt, Ryan Gosling, and Christian Bale
Adam McKay isn’t one to shy away from comedies that address current events. The Other Guys centered on Ponzi schemes and made an effort to address those issues in the end credits. So now after writing and directing Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues and writing the script for Ant-Man based on Edgar Wright’s story, McKay is setting his sights on the housing and credit bubble of the 2000s that eventually led to the financial crisis in 2007-2010. The film will be called The Big Short. Based on Michael Lewis‘s (Moneyball) The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine, the film has already cast Brad Pitt, Ryan Gosling, and Christian Bale. According to reports, this is somewhat of a passion project for Pitt, who has been avidly pursuing to get it into production. Hit the jump for more.
