It was actually reported last month that the sibling directors were in the running to helm the film, but now Disney and Marvel have confirmed the news in a new press released that was posted on the Marvel website. The Russos first made their Marvel Studio debut with Captain America: The Winter Soldier, a film that grossed $714 million worldwide. Eventually they would sign on to direct the film’s sequel, Captain America: Civil War, which will bring Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark character into Captain America’s story in a much larger capacity than a simple cameo. The film will also introduce Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it is rumored that Spider-Man, who Marvel gained permission to use after a deal with Sony was agreed upon back in February, will make his big screen MCU debut in the film.
