Â
Martin Scorsese encounters no intense turmoil as he thwarts his inner urge to make another violent picture and involves himself with a luminously adventurous 3D film that has a little orphan boy at its center, as well as an immense homage to cinema. In one of the most inventive films of the year, Scorsese’s Hugo is an indelible delight that is meant to enchant audiences of every age. The way he uses this immersive 3D technology is enchantingly beautiful, bringing a distant world and all of its once unexplored recesses into our immediate presence.
Even those ardent followers of Scorsese’s genius will find visible evidence of his personal life and his previous films, all in which reverberate throughout Hugo. But what has to be realized is that this film could have only been brought to life by a man who harbors an infinite understanding of and an appreciation for the realm of cinema.

Sad news across the world for geeks today, as word has reached us that the wonderful actor, Michael Gough, has passed away. He was 94 years old. To most people, Michael Gough was well known for his role as Alfred Pennyworth in the 1990’s Batman movie series, beginning with Tim Burton’s Batman in 1989 and right through Joel Schumacher’s Batman & Robin in 1997. However, this wasn’t Michael Gough’s first involvement in a franchise loved by geeks internationally. A very young Gough appeared as The Celestial Toymaker in Doctor Who back in 1965. The episode, The Celestial Toymaker, saw Gough act with the First Doctor William Hartnell. He would later appear with Fifth Doctor Peter Davison, playing a different role, in the episode Arc of Infinity.

Release Date: June 1, 2010
Most people are already familiar with the story of Alice In Wonderland, the classic tale by Lewis Carroll, about a bored little girl named Alice who falls down a rabbit hole into a magical world. In this “wonderland,” she encounters strange animals who can speak and comes up against the evil Queen of Hearts. Disney’s 1951 animated film further popularized the tale and has come to be the definitive on-screen version representation of Alice In Wonderland. Now, Disney has dipped back into the Alice In Wonderland pool to give us a live-action/CGI hybrid version, directed by Tim Burton. A common misconception is that Burton’s new film is just another remake of the classic, but in actuality, the new film is really a follow-up to the original Alice In Wonderland and its sequel Through The Looking Glass, and probably would have benefited from being marketed that way. And if you expect it to begin right away with Alice falling down that rabbit hole, well, you’ll be a little disappointed, as there’s a lot more for you to learn about Alice before she even gets to Wonderland — or, in this case, Underland.
