Dark Souls 3 "True Colors"

The latest gameplay trailer for Dark Souls III has been released.

The new trailer is something of a music video, set to a cover of the song “True Colors” performed by Richie Kohan and featuring Faux Fix, while also showing off some previously unseen gameplay footage.

Dark Souls III

The Gamescom convention kicked off in Germany today, and there’s been plenty of exciting video game goodness shared already.

The third entry in developer From Software’s massively popular Dark Souls franchise, simply titled Dark Souls III, was officially announced at E3 2015 a couple of months back. Now the first gameplay preview for the trilogy-maker has been unveiled at Gamescom during the Microsoft presentation today.

While Dark Souls II was released on the current generation of consoles, it was first released on the previous generation, making this the first “next-gen” release for the excited fans of the series. You can see what it looks like below.

Dark Souls 2 With Rock Band Guitar

The Dark Souls games are already some of the hardest games ever crafted, and yet fans, for some incomprehensible reason, are always looking for new ways to increase the challenge (because Dark Souls fans take great pleasure in inflicting large amounts of pain and suffering on their own psychological makeup).

One such fan of questionable motives decided one day that he wanted to take on the Souls games using a Rock Band guitar as a controller. You can check out a few videos of his efforts against some tough boss fights in the videos below.

The 10th annual Spike Video Game Awards ceremony was held last night, and as always, gamers were excited to see if any huge new games would be announced. We went in hoping for another epic announcement along the same lines as Bethesda’s reveal of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim a couple of years back, maybe the rumored Fallout 4 or something from the recently confirmed Dragon Age III, but instead we got a nightmare resurrected.

Many people, myself included, were tormented by the relentlessly difficult game Dark Souls, haunting many of our dreams. But we sucked it up and fought through to obtain the invisible trophy you get when defeating such a game. Mine’s above the fireplace. Developer From Software, however, has decided they don’t want us to recover much, announcing Dark Souls II at the VGAs.
