| Crazy Person Plays ‘Dark Souls’ With ‘Rock Band’ Guitar (Video)
The Dark Souls games are already some of the hardest games ever crafted, and yet fans, for some incomprehensible reason, are always looking for new ways to increase the challenge (because Dark Souls fans take great pleasure in inflicting large amounts of pain and suffering on their own psychological makeup). One such fan of questionable motives decided one day that he wanted to take on the Souls games using a Rock Band guitar as a controller. You can check out a few videos of his efforts against some tough boss fights in the videos below.

Harmonix has just revealed that Green Day: Rock Band will be available for all you American Idiots out there, June 8 on Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii. Up to 6 players (3 mics; 3 instruments) will progress through the career of the trio, unlocking collectible images (more than 100), and some 40 minutes of “rare and unreleased” footage from interviews, outtakes and performances along the way. The game will also have the same vocal harmonizing feature that made The Beatles: Rock Band such a treat for group singers and comes loaded with 47 Green Day tracks, including “Brain Stew,” “Jaded”, “Hitchin’ a Ride,” “American Idiot,” “Wake Me Up When September Ends,” and “Boulevard of Broken Dreams.” If you’re looking to export these songs, fear not: all 47 tracks are fully exportable to a console hard drive and playable in Rock Band, Rock Band 2, and the recently announced Rock Band 3. The export fee is $9.99 via Xbox Live or PSN. The export features is not available for the Wii system. Additionally, if you’ve picked up the six Green Day tunes already available as DLC, you can play them in the new game with added harmonies, “unique” visuals and more “exclusive archival material.”

If someone were to ask you right this very moment that if you could choose any one song in the whole, wide world to have added to your dearest Rock Band, what would you choose? For those of you who said “I would want Lady Gaga‘s “Poker Face” as performed by Eric Cartman on Comedy Central‘s South Park,” then boy, oh boy do I have a little treat for you! Rock Band has officially announced that along with some actual Lady Gaga songs, they will also be adding Cartman’s beautiful rendition on the tune. The character, who of course is part of Matt Stone and Trey Parker‘s vulgar animated South Park world, sang the song on Rock Band with Kenny and Kyle in the episode “Whale Whores.” After your own night of karaoke, drunkenly stumble your way to the bottom of this post to watch Cartman get lyrical all up on ya’ll.

| Holiday Geek Gift Guide ’09: Video Game Edition |
|
One of the most exciting things to receive as a gift on Christmas is video games. For me personally, nothing beats the morning I was given the Sega Genesis system I never thought I would possibly get, and playing Sonic’s elusive blue hide right into the ground. And even though that childlike joy will never be experienced again for me, and video game systems are a whole lot different and more expensive these days, it’s still exciting to open up a new video game you haven’t played yet. To try and help some of you create this joy for your video game playing loved ones, we wanted to create a list of 2009’s best and most-desired game titles. These are the games that most people are going to want if they don’t have them yet, and these are the games that have made the most impact. Obviously you’ll want to make sure they don’t have specific titles in mind, but for the most part, this is where to start reading up on and shopping for video game gift ideas. Click on over to the other side to check out our very own Holiday Gift Guide: Video Game Edition ’09 for selections to play on Nintendo Wii, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 game consoles, as well as on your PC. And don’t procrastinate! No one enjoys last second shopping or the hell that is your local mall a few days before Christmas!
