| ‘Top Gun 2’: Miles Teller Set To Play Goose’s Son, Tom Cruise’s Protege
Original Top Gun stars Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer are returning for Top Gun 2, but now a newcomer is joining the cast. It’s being reported that Whiplash star Miles Teller has signed on for the sequel, which is officially titled Top Gun: Maverick. But while he wasn’t in the original—in fact, he hadn’t even been born when the original was released—he is playing a character very much tied to the original. Teller will be playing the protege of Cruise’s Maverick, and the son of Maverick’s co-pilot in the original, Goose, who was played by Anthony Edwards.

| ‘Top Gun 2’ Starring Tom Cruise Officially Begins Production
After many years of rumors and whispers and a lengthy stay in development hell, and 32 years after the original was released, Top Gun 2 has officially begun production. The news was shared by original star Tom Cruise, who’s set to reprise his role as Maverick in the follow-up, in a tweet sent out last night. | Mary Elizabeth Winstead Set To Star In ‘Gemini Man’ Alongside Will Smith
It’s being reported that Mary Elizabeth Winstead has been cast as the female lead in Gemini Man, an upcoming action thriller from Paramount Pictures and Skydance Media. The actress beat out Orphan Black star Tatiana Maslany for the role. Winstead joins Will Smith, who will actually be playing two roles, on the cast. Smith will play an older assassin named Henry who’s looking to escape that life, and also a clone of Henry who’s 25 years younger, in top form as an assassin, and on a mission to kill his older self. Winstead will play an operative working for the same company as Smith’s character who’s ordered to keep an eye on Henry, but ultimately ends up joining forces with him.

| James Cameron Wants To Make A New ‘Terminator’ Trilogy Happen
Though James Cameron has his hands full working on those Avatar sequels, he still finds the time to work on other projects. | Annapurna Pictures Exits Out Of ‘Terminator: Genesis’
This was always an odd pairing. When the Terminator property was up for grabs, a variety of studios were vying to purchase the name of the very lucrative franchise, namely Annapurna Pictures and Lionsgate. Megan Ellison and her Annapurna Pictures ended up beating Lionsgate for the project and soon developed a partnership with Paramount, who would help finance the project with Annapurna. They even got some of the roles cast for Terminator: Genesis. Game Of Thrones‘ Emilia Clarke got the role of Sarah Connor, while Zero Dark Thirty‘s Jason Clarke is in talks to play John Connor.
